I am very keen on outdoor pursuits especially hunting and fishing and, consequently, spend much of my spare time in rural Nevada pursuing these interests. I have come to love the wilder parts of Nevada and the local people who have an interesting view of life and a neighborliness that is heart-warming to a townsman such as me. As a Chiropractor, I have taken an interest in healthcare provision in these communities and learned, from locals, that it is relatively scarce and oft

I have made some ‘false starts’ in my choice of career. The mistakes I have made have been painful and confusing but I now feel that these experiences can have a positive effect on my life and future. They have provided me with much experience relevant to this application and have ultimately led me to submitting it which I do with genuine enthusiasm and optimism.

We were forced to abandon our African home in Liberia in 2001 as a result of a brutal civil war. We were fortunate to arrive safely as a family in one of Staten Island’s worst neighborhoods. I have witnessed a great deal of poverty and misery and this has helped to prepare me for serving as a devoted and compassionate medical professional. As a teenager, I volunteered at a day care center, which served to fire a special love for children and a passionate interest in child dev

I was raised in a poor community in rural Nepal in which health service provision was scarce and expensive. I resolved at an early age that I would be involved in providing this invaluable service. I have never wavered in this decision and all my studies, voluntary and professional work since have confirmed me in my vocation.

I was small when my cousin died from a congenital aortic stenosis. Heartbroken, I came to relive the experience over many years later as I observed countless underprivileged cardiac patients in India who would soon die from lack of adequate medical care. I see the medical care giver as noble, which has inspired me to pursue a career as a PA. I have begun my studies as a paramedic, and look forward to having the opportunity to prove my study skills in a very rigorous program s

I clearly remember the moment when I realized what my calling in life was: an unexpected medical emergency with my brother heightened my awareness of the importance of acquiring proper health treatment from trained and knowledgeable health professionals. It takes only an instant for someone's life to take a complete turn when faced with a medical health issue. When a person's health is threatened it not only affects the individual it affects those around them, especially thei

While I was too young to remember all my family endured in the Haiti of the early 1900s, I have grown up knowing all that did happen, from first hand accounts of events that most Americans, and thankfully so, will never have to endure; the corruption, collapse of healthcare services, and rampant public health issues. Coming to America was a chance to start over, and to give back to the country that had welcomed us, and the invaluable opportunity to bring a better tomorrow to

Having spent the first eighteen years of my life growing up in the country of Haiti, almost every memory I have of my homeland is tinged with the knowledge of the tragic realities that transpired, that my family and I lived through, and ultimately left in the hopes of a better life.c I was a child, growing up, struggling with my own path, getting educated, becoming a woman.

Medicine is for me a fascination with the complex factors that account for how the relationship between the mind, the body, and the unknown, unfolds in mysterious ways. I have been early exploring these dynamic since I was a child. My mission in life is to help those who cannot help themselves; this is where I derive my own sense of self-worth, human dignity, and sense of achievement.

As a certified EMT, I provided initial patient diagnoses and performed emergency medical procedures. The skills I developed were rooted in my natural abilities to connect with people and empathize with their pain, enabling effective treatment. Having the honor of saving lives, I am grateful for the chance to give back to my community and help those in dire need.

Hilda was a patient in need who only spoke Spanish, so I was called to translate. The news was grim, and I had the responsibility of conveying the test results and prognosis to her. Hilda had an inoperable brain tumor. If it had been diagnosed earlier, she might have survived. I felt powerless, but this experience ignited a strong desire to help people like Hilda, turning my career choice into a vocation.

Since becoming a student pilot, flying has enhanced my preparedness for medical emergencies and honed my ability to remain calm and communicate effectively. My first solo flight required significant preparation, and my father, a pilot for twenty-two years, was proud to assist. He introduced me to flying when I was just a few weeks old. Seventeen years later, I was ready to pilot the plane solo.
