Graduation day in Nigeria: A proud PhD graduate stands confidently with her diploma and thesis on "Advocacy for Change," while a group of peers and family celebrate in vibrant traditional attire under a banner celebrating transformative education. I came to America from Nigeria with my family when I was eighteen, leaving behind a country struggling to end an apocalyptic civil war that cost over a million lives. I saw our government changing hands repeatedly through military coups. While many in Nigeria at the time saw emigration to another country to further oneself as being a sign of luxury and wealth, this was not the case with us. My parents, hard-working, honorable, wonderful people, were poor and illiterate, having never attended school. I resolved that their sacrifices for me would never be in vain. and I adopted their standards of how to conduct myself: disciplined, persistent, and relentlessly hardworking. While in high school, I read The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. This book spoke to me and reading it was a defining moment. "You can, if you think you can" became my philosophy. To this day, I have lived this motto, never accepting or listening to others who tried to reign in my aspirations, never giving in to the naysayers. Whenever I can, I tell people they have no limitations except those they choose to impose upon themselves. I worked for five years as an accounting administrative assistant before I concluded that this was not my calling in life. I had no passion for this type of work, and I wanted a profession that would offer me a chance to learn. No other profession provides greater opportunity for lifelong learning than teaching. Thus, I resolved to become an educator. My research interests include, but are not limited to, Urban Education in America, particularly the struggle to bridge gaps in educational achievement for minorities. I look forward to a lifetime of study into the way in which race, and related cultural issues, shape the distribution and success of educational systems and initiatives. My focus is primarily the American experience since Brown vs. the Board of Education over a half century ago from a socio-economic perspective. I seek to understand why and how, since the desegregation of schools in the United States, the achievement gap between the races has been a controversial issue. Empowering Education: An influential female leader drives a seminar focused on nurturing future leaders in Nigeria, advocating for transformative educational change. I am actively involved with them to tackle the educational achievement gap. What innovative solutions can be devised? One might argue that despite the bipartisan No Child Left Behind Act, the ongoing tax avoidance by America's largest corporations is limiting the federal government's capabilities. What level of spending would be required per student to close the achievement gap? Is it merely a financial issue? I am interested in exploring these complex questions. Is the digital divide the key issue here? If a school system fails to provide the necessary information technology to its students, how can they compete nationally in this golden age of information? This suggests that the problem lies not with the teachers or students, but with the inadequate technology in school systems. The digital divide extends to library systems and even homes. A school offering online education tracking software for parents is beneficial, but how can a parent without a computer or Internet access use such a tool? Furthermore, a library system that charges for printouts poses a challenge for children or parents with limited financial resources. These are the types of issues that must be addressed and resolved for socioeconomically disadvantaged inner-city school children to succeed. We live in a society that advocates for equal opportunities. Students need to be given an equal chance at success. I have long supported young adults, as they often face significant stigmas. However, I've realized that being a classroom teacher restricts my ability to advocate for them fully. I aspire to do more for teenagers and believe I can achieve greater impact by pursuing a course of study focused on administrative leadership and social justice in education for K-12 students and beyond. A doctoral degree in urban administration will provide me with the necessary tools to address fundamental issues in the American school system, tackling problems faced by many dedicated teachers in inner-city schools. With my extensive experience as an inner-city educator and a solid foundation in urban studies, this is a natural progression for me. My determination and mission will drive me to reach these goals, and a doctorate will enable me to work more effectively to enhance educational systems. Spending ten years teaching teenagers in Los Angeles school districts has provided me with extensive cultural competency, allowing me to collaborate with educators from around the country and the world, each bringing unique heritages. Though I am originally from Nigeria, I identify as a Nigerian American and proudly represent my heritage. Moving to L.A. from Omaha, Nebraska, I have lived and worked in a city with a substantial African American and Hispanic population. As an educator, I recognize the importance of engaging not only with students but also with their parents, building relationships that are vital for my students' success. I have experienced a wide range of diverse cultural backgrounds. As a successful educator, I have mastered the basics, designing and planning daily lesson plans, selecting and using appropriate materials and teaching aids to effectively convey key concepts across various subjects. My goal has always been to provide clear explanations, continuously challenging myself to develop more creative educational approaches. I go beyond the call of duty for my students and readily acknowledge that some may require additional attention or tutoring. I started my education by earning a bachelor's degree in biology, along with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of ____, which is known for its outstanding national reputation. During this time, I developed an interest in Urban Studies, influenced by experiencing the racial tensions of the 1970s. Notably, in 1976, Omaha initiated court-ordered integrated busing. I went on to complete a master's degree in urban studies at ____ University and subsequently moved to East Bay, California, where I embarked on my teaching career. Thank you for considering my application to your esteemed program. PHD Personal Statement Education Africa

  • OT Masters Occupational Therapy Personal Purpose Help

MOT Masters Occupational Therapy Personal Purpose Help I was born and raised in Mississippi and now live in ____, Florida. I hold a B.S. degree in Biology awarded by _____ University, Florida in 2003. My goal is to complete the M.O.T. egree so that I can be an agent for positive change in the lives of others. I am a farm girl, brought up with my two brothers in an environment where physical work was a natural part of life from early childhood. I was regarded as intelligent, but this was demonstrated in practical ways rather than academically. I did not extend myself at high school and I merely ‘coasted’ while there. My family’s ambitions for me extended only as far as marriage and motherhood but I harbored dreams of college. Following an early and short marriage, I joined the Navy. I became one of the very first females to work as a machinery repairperson. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the service. I served for four years, including service at sea and deployment in the first Gulf War. My service taught me effective teamwork, self-discipline and adaptability which have served me well since leaving. MOT Masters Occupational Therapy Personal Purpose Help When I left the Navy, I pursued my college ambition and chose Biology as my major because I appreciate how the body is a sophisticated and complex machine, and this fascinates me enormously as I continued to learn. I now have a better understanding of how I ‘work’ and I have enjoyed my studies enormously. Once I graduated, however, I was not sure what career or field I wanted to pursue, so I began working diverse jobs to explore my options. At one point, for example, I served as a ‘compensation adjuster’ with an insurance company, working to determine due compensation based on a host of factors, primarily the medical care of injured workers. I became aware of the often-serious consequences of injuries and the therapies available to assist patients. In this capacity I became aware of the enormous value of occupational therapy, and it struck me that this was a way in which I could ‘make a difference’ in the lives of others in a direct and fundamentally sustainable way. I undertook extensive research into the profession by talking to various OTs and observing them after work as much as possible. I concluded that this was an ideal career choice for me, indeed more a vocation than a choice. I am extremely excited at the prospect of studying, qualifying, and practicing. I also carefully researched the programs available and concluded that the program at ____ University is the ideal ‘fit’ for my needs. MOT Masters Occupational Therapy Personal Purpose Help I have carefully considered the qualities required of an effective occupational therapist and genuinely believe that I possess them. I have a deeply held desire to help people and to assist them in helping themselves. I am a determined listener, patient, and I relate well to others. With a creative, ‘hands on’ approach to problem solving, I also take pride in my sense of humor. I have happily worked and socialized with people of many diverse cultural and social backgrounds during my volunteer service, professionally paid work, and as a student. If selected to attend your especially creative and distinguished Occupational Therapy program, I will apply myself fully to excel as a student and become equipped to distinguish myself as an especially caring and effective occupational therapist in the future.  MOT Masters Occupational Therapy Personal Purpose Help

  • Art and Architecture Personal Purpose Statement Iran

Sample Architecture Personal Purpose Statement Iranian Artist My family members are fully immersed in engineering, design, and architecture and, by my mid-teens, I had joined the family club. I spent all my spare time reading about art and architecture and, after much arduous study, qualified for entry to study at the Tehran College of Art and Architecture at the age of eighteen. I was awarded my undergraduate degree in industrial design at ____ University, in May 2013. My father is a graduate of ____ and was one of the first students to earn a Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering. I wanted to experience the academic environment that my father had loved so much. Unfortunately, my family was unable to afford to fund this ambition until 2009 when I was finally able to begin my studies in Virginia. Sample Architecture Personal Purpose Statement Iranian Artist I am fascinated by architecture because of the melding of science and art towards creating something that has utility and beauty, impacts on the environment of many people and that will stand for generations. The responsibilities of an architect are quite breath-taking combining so many disparate skills and taking account of the needs and views of so many with direct and indirect interests in a project. I am also extremely excited at the developments in building design and materials that will eventually provide us with buildings that produce energy rather than consume it. I hope to be a part of the solution to energy use reduction through architecture. I have been fortunate in being exposed to architectural styles in Iran and the US. I am also part of the school’s ‘study abroad program’ based in Switzerland and have seen the best in European architecture during my visits. I am very much looking forward to a further study trip to Europe in the spring semester of 2012. Sample Architecture Personal Purpose Statement Iranian Artist I love the academic environment at ____ University and very much want to undertake my higher studies in this positive, supportive, and challenging milieu. Thus, I am applying in this, my fourth year of bachelor's degree studies, to undertake a combined BA and MA program in my fifth year and complete the MA program in my sixth year of study. I also know that I have the necessary passion to become a successful and effective architect. I hope to be involved in research relating to urban architecture during the program. I am also aware that those fortunate enough to have well rewarded careers that they love should donate some of their time and skill to assist charities and non-profit bodies to achieve their goals and I intend to do so. • Diversity Statement Psychology Application Russian Woman

Diversity Statement Psychology Application Russian Woman “Only crazy people go to therapy.” If I had a dime for every time I heard that statement, I could have retired safely at the age of twenty. The negative connotation and social stigma attached to mental health treatment in the Russian culture, and many other cultures across the globe and in America, is what initially drew me to this field. My family and I immigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union and settled in northeast Philadelphia, a bustling community populated by Russian immigrants. I grew up in a small, tight-knit community; while I was happy to belong, I struggled with finding a balance between all-too-often polarized lifestyle attitudes - immigrant Russian vs. mainstream American cultures. I suffered from the way that the “Philly-Russian” lifestyle was in many ways self- segregated from broader forms of American community. Diversity Statement Psychology Statement of Purpose I was also stunned to find similar patterns in behavior among Russian immigrants in Sydney, Australia where I conducted an informal qualitative study of Russian immigrant acculturation - while studying abroad during the summer of 2003. I visited various places known to cater to the Russian community in Australia and approached Russian adults of various ages and background to request their participation in an unstructured interview regarding their experience with adaptation to Australian culture, society, and people. Despite our shared cultural heritage, I was received as an outsider and was not as readily accepted as I had anticipated. I had never been on this ‘other side of the fence’ before and my study turned into a struggle for role definition across ethnic and political barriers which I sought to break down and analyze. Diversity Statement PsyD Psychology Application Personal Statement Examples The biggest challenge that I have faced has been acknowledging my own culturally based biases and beliefs, colored by my own personal experience of immigration and acculturation. Identifying and working through feelings of displacement and associated anxieties has allowed me to become more in tune with my own emotional experiences, thereby allowing me to be better able to hear and understand the subjective experiences of others. I want to devote my life to improving communication, understanding, and acceptance of multicultural diversity. Diversity Statement Psychology Application Russian Woman

  • MA Peace and Conflict Studies, Protesting Nuclear War

MA Peace & Conflict Studies Personal Statement of Purpose I spent the first half of my life bouncing across the globe, visiting six of our seven continents, living in Holland and France as well as the United States. My parents' work brought me a level of cultural competency few of my classmates could ever attain. I clearly remember visiting the Soviet Union in the 1970s and especially getting caught up in what is now called the 1980 coup d'état in Turkey. This past summer, though, while in Japan on a study abroad trip, I found my life’s purpose. Professor ____ of the Nuclear Studies Institute of the American University opened my eyes to the sufferings of those caught in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki of 1945 and the aftermath which continues to this day in the form of the Hibakusha – the survivors of that nuclear assault. Particularly chilling was Professor ____’s detailing of just how close to nuclear war we’ve come in the recent past. MA Peace & Conflict Studies Personal Statement of Purpose While in Japan, I was impressed by the culture of peace as seen through the considerable number of peace museums, peace parks, and commemorative functions. I was struck by how the Japanese people remain the fiercest advocates for a world free of nuclear weapons, at least nuclear war. The Three Non-Nuclear Principles into their government and have maintained a non-nuclear weapon standard for over sixty years, while the superpowers around them continue their stockpile of nuclear weaponry and research. And, yet, through the stories of the Hibakusha, especially Koko Tanimoto-Kondo, an American University alum, I was profoundly moved by the lack of bitterness, and rather, a continued hope for world peace. The Hibakusha are living testimonies to the mistake of nuclear war. Of course, my hopes are their hopes, that one day nuclear arms will be simply outlawed completely, worldwide. MA Peace & Conflict Studies Personal Statement of Purpose Continuing my academic endeavors through a master's program of study with the ____ University – my only choice for graduate education - will enable me to achieve my dreams. It is my aim to become a professor myself, researching the effects of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki as well as the effects of the atomic testing programs in the United States, particularly the civilians inadvertently affected “downwind” of test sites. As a professor, it would be my responsibility to teach students the moral implications of President Truman’s administration’s choice of response to Japan during WWII, impress upon them the ferocious destructive nature of a nuclear assault and the intense despair caused by this choice. Students need to learn from our past mistakes and must be educated in alternative strategies for ending conflicts, to avoid a nuclear war at all costs. Ideally, my future work will enable me to lead student groups, be it high school students or college students, on study abroad trips to Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and nuclear test sites in the United States, using these places as an extension of the classroom to impress upon my students the deadly power of these weapons of unimaginable destruction. While World War III may come someday, let it not be done with nuclear weapons. If nuclear weapons are employed in a large-scale conflict, I am convinced that the impact will be felt around the world, if not destroying most or all of life on earth as we know it. And who better to lead students to these ideals in the classroom and beyond. Having learning disabilities myself, who better encourage my students to struggle for their goals? Having survived cancer – and the irony of nuclear medicine is not lost on me – and maintaining a 3.77 GPA while going through chemotherapy during both my junior and senior years of undergraduate work, who better to encourage students to give their best, and demonstrate how obstacles are opportunities. And through it all, even my severe seizure disorder, I keep a positive attitude, and a good sense of humor. I turned my pain into positive energy and have raised money by participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, walking a total of 360 miles, and raising over $15,000. It is a love of life that keeps me going, and a love for my academic work that gets me up every day. And while I have never been a teacher, I have, in fact, been a National Champion coach of Girls’ Softball four times. I thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to a personal interview. MA Peace & Conflict Studies Personal Statement of Purpose

  • PHD Public Health Epidemiology Statement of Purpose

PHD Public Health Epidemiology Statement of Purpose Help I have reached a point in my professional and volunteer career where I feel I will quickly exhaust every avenue of promotion and challenge at my current academic level. To bring my personal and professional plans to fruition, I need to immerse myself in a leading academic program in Public Health where I can focus primarily on Epidemiology. The PHD curriculum focused on Epidemiology will equip me with the tools I need to conduct relevant, quality research that focuses on contemporary Public Health issues. I have a personal affinity with and profound passion for Epidemiology. I seek lifelong immersion in the trenches of the battle being waged against diabetes and obesity, now at epidemic levels, and related diseases. Working in a research capacity, I will be able to devote myself to the search for viable, sustainable solutions to community needs. I hope to publish in epidemiology and to thus help to prevent some of the tragedies that might have otherwise occurred. PHD Public Health Epidemiology Statement of Purpose Examples Growing up a Black woman in poverty-stricken Mississippi, I have seen firsthand the perpetual cycle of ineffective or absent public healthcare policies, and people in the grips of many avoidable and treatable conditions, compounded by lack of access to preventative health services and education, or quality, compassionate care. Winning my own fight with type-2 Diabetes made me highly motivated to do the same for others, especially the people I grew up with in my community, those that believed in me and supported me in the pursuit of my dreams. I cannot go forward without remembering where I came from, and giving back to the best of my ability, knowledge, and heartfelt compassion. In this golden age of equal opportunity, it is time to bring equal access to healthcare, in a system that I believe can do better. My great passion for Public Health Epidemiology was further energized by the privilege I had of serving as a volunteer at the Chiro/Elite Natural Health and Pain Center, working under Dr. ____. Working closely with Dr. ____ helped inspired me to develop myself further, to devote myself as fully as possible to combating obesity, since it is a condition that gravely complicates and compounds a variety of other diseases, increasing the time it takes to heal and decreasing chances of survival. I most enjoyed helping Dr. ____ to design a weight-loss program that incorporated nutritional and behavior modification to maximize health outcomes. Participating in the “Sweet Science’ program, I have overcome my own type-2 Diabetes. More importantly, working in the laboratory and interacting with clients has confirmed that I am on exactly the correct path. No other work has, nor ever could, bring me the same level of spiritual or professional satisfaction. And now, I am going forth to continue the work of influencing healthy lifestyle choices, promoting longevity, and building an excellent foundation from which to design other, more advanced public health projects. PHD Public Health Epidemiology Personal Statement Service Earning a scholarship to attend ____ University, and a good relationship with the professors made DSU a natural and logical choice. As with many first-year students, it was a struggle, adjusting to the demands of the scholastic program, balancing between my academic and volunteer work. Simultaneously, I was maturing as a student, a process that by the time I was a graduate student was complete, as was my focus on my future goals. Lab courses kept my passion for research alive, and my skills practiced, leading to biomedical research, a pursuit fueled by my fascination with human physiology and anatomy. I have maintained a conceptual continuity focused on healthcare and disease-related issues. Since high school, along with my own academic and professional research, I have been involved in research assistant work alongside professors and physicians. Currently, I am working for the US Department of Agriculture, conducting agricultural research as a biological research technician. My work has focused on drift studies, monitoring chemical applications in the field and providing educated recommendations for use by the agricultural community. Throughout my time with the USDA, I have seen an increasing causal link to the field of Public Health, questioning how the lives of people living in agricultural or rural communities are affected by the research. Moreover, the questions spring to mind, should these populations consume specialized diets to offset hormonal changes that are being influenced by chemicals used in the environment. How are environmental influences responsible for, and to what extent is obesity related to lifestyle choices? This direction led me to do extensive research in Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University, analyzing the amount of herbicide and pesticide residue in pond-raised catfish. My professional work involves daily agricultural research, combined with being an IT liaison for my unit, handling IT maintenance, set-up/installation, and user support. The working environment has developed my ability to adapt quickly, to switch fluidly between my research and IT work, adapting quickly and thinking on my feet. I currently volunteer at Chiro/Elite Natural Health and Pain Center working closely with the owner, Dr. XXXX. I am also volunteering at the Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation at ____ University, utilizing my heritage and connection with the community, impressed upon me the need to encourage young People of Color to consider careers that have low levels of minority representation, especially science, math, engineering and technology fields. My involvement with multidisciplinary research teams and volunteering at hospitals and schools has developed my interpersonal abilities, cultural competency, self-efficacy, self-esteem. I am comfortable in my own skin. My life experiences, rising from a socio-economically depressed background, has instilled in me a heartfelt compassion for people in similar circumstances, I feel the imperative most keenly, to help them help themselves, empowering individuals with the opportunities and tools to make it happen. Working and volunteering in demanding atmospheres has given me a calm disposition, even when under intense pressure. It is this ability that will aid me in my own research work at ____, taking on the rigors and demands of the curriculum with relative ease, an ability born from extensive effort at refining my time management and organizational skills. I interact and communicate effectively with people from all levels of society, creeds, cultures, and backgrounds, and even have veritable strangers confide in me or seek advice, usually on a health-related matter. After careful research and consideration – a total of three years – I have found that ____ University satisfies all my needs for an educational experience that combines the breadth and autonomy of curriculum I want, along with the convenience of online education. I was thoroughly impressed with the online presentation and prompt attention I received after indicating my interest in the school. ____ University represents a diverse array of students, faculty, and research areas, suggesting a dynamic and stimulating educational environment. The School of Health Sciences provides a Public Health program that is truly inspiring, fits my personal interests, ambitions, and goals, with coursework that is relevant and involved. I look forward to my time with ____ and thank you for your consideration. PHD Public Health Epidemiology Statement of Purpose Help

  • PHD Religious Studies Personal Purpose Statement Caribbean

Applying to PHD program in Religious Studies A rich heritage is only as good as the person commanding it. Personal strength and your achievements are what make you, and your heritage then becomes your depth. Coming from Trinidad and Tobago, my family, my blood, is rooted in an acceptance and understanding of religious diversity. Trinidad and Tobago, while a tiny island nation, was the first nation in the world to have a national holiday that acknowledges Spiritual Baptists, one of two African syncretic religions on the islands, as well as recognizing Christian, Hindu, and Muslim national holidays. Growing up in Brooklyn and taking an active role in Celebrate Brooklyn for these past 30 years, has helped me to identify as a New Yorker with extraordinary pride, enamored as always with our city's great diversity. While I have seen religious tolerance at its best, I recall while serving for several years as a New York City Police Officer, all too well, the race riots, widespread violence, and looting that took place in my hometown of Crown Heights in 1991 I remember feeling incredible sadness and intense disappointment, sentiments shared by most of my fellow officers. I have reached a point in my professional career where I feel I have exhausted every avenue of promotion and challenges at my current academic level and need to enact changes in my life to bring my plans to fruition. I am hungry to conduct research into African religions, particularly how they became African American religions because of the slave trade, both before and after the American Civil War. I hope to have the opportunity to devote lifelong learning to the subject of African syncretic religions throughout the Americas, especially the Caribbean. By completing the especially distinguished and creative PhD program in Religious Studies at ____ University I will be in an excellent position to learn from the renowned African American Studies department as well. In this way, I will have optimal preparation for the fulfillment of my intellectual and professional dreams. I look forward to becoming increasingly devoted to religious toleration and preserving peace through dialogue and communication among diverse religious groups that need to work together to counter hate and violence. I hope to focus on the positive attributes and resources of a broad variety of different religions present in America to promote improved relations between all religious groups, especially those that are heavily represented in the community. I have an intense passion for teaching, born from direct contact and interaction with students, watching them grow and develop academically becoming conscientious citizens with articulate voices who do not shy away of speaking up on behalf of weak and the victimized. Throughout my professional career, I have remained engaged with teaching as well as counseling and they are quite complementary. I hope to someday design workshops that foster spirituality and spiritual camaraderie based on commonly held belief systems, for those religious groups that have experienced tension for one reason or another, most notably, strife between Black and Latino members of the community, particularly our youth. I look forward to continuing to volunteer as a career counselor heightening awareness concerning how to overcome barriers to higher education. I have been successful in getting many of the young adults that I work with to implement novel strategies of being, that assist them in counteracting both the internal and the external challenges they face in the struggle to improve their lives. My commitment to my academic career is evident in my holding of two graduate degrees, one of which is in Psychological Counseling. These studies enabled me to learn about and better appreciate how idiosyncratic perspectives are formed in the context of cultural experiences. While conducting a peer-reviewed symposium for the 2001 Teachers College Winter Roundtable, I had the opportunity to present my research work which consisted of an extensive literature review and data analysis detailing the relationship between religious and spiritual coping in the context of psychological distress among urban college students. I also plan to continue my work at my church in a ministry entitled, Be Transformed. I co-facilitate a woman's group that practices adopting a psycho-spiritual approach to daily adversities and personal challenges with a psycho-spiritual approach. I am also working with the ____ organization, designing a seven-week group workshop, Spirit Speaks, which aims to provide a safe environment where students from different spiritual and religious orientations can enter open dialogue about similarities and differences in spiritual experiences. The hope is that these experiences will increase awareness of bias and lay the groundwork for greater understanding. I also volunteered for the program Police Officers Providing Peer Assistance (POPPA) in which I periodically managed a crisis hotline, which sometimes entailed meeting personally with officers experiencing crises in their lives. Overall, I have become a very well-rounded and versatile teacher, having taught in many different educational settings and levels, with students from a multitude of backgrounds and ages, experiences which will aid me invaluably in my time at ____ University. The subject matter I have taught could not have been more diverse ranging from teaching self-defense tactics to police officers to teaching multicultural counseling to students in a community college. Combined with this has been my experience in designing original and creative educational programs, such as the ____ program, in which children from Harlem were given free karate lessons in exchange for a chance to tutor them in basic reading, writing, and math. The Department of Religion at ____ is my sole choice for further education. I adore diversity and feel fortunate to have had the privilege to get to know many individuals from a large variety of ethnic groups, races, and cultures. I profoundly value being multilingual and look forward to fulfilling the foreign language requirement. The work that I have done in and for my church and community is solid evidence of my Christian faith. However, my life experiences and heritage have served to develop a desire to understand and a capacity to appreciate the powerful positive attributes of all religions and spiritual orientations. Diversity is what makes this society unique, and beautiful, a reflection of the tout ensemble of humankind. PHD Religious Studies Personal Purpose Statement Caribbean

  • PHD Civil Environmental Engineering Personal Purpose

PHD Civil & Environmental Engineering Personal Statement of Purpose Example I am an engineer from Ghana who now lives and works in Texas. I am writing this Statement to support my application to enter the Doctoral Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of ____. I have a great passion for wastewater management, and my long-term goal is to teach in this area because I am convinced that this would be the most effective way for me to contribute to society, helping to preserve our water bodies. I completed my MSc in Environmental Engineering and Project Management at ____ University in the U.K. I have a great passion for research, and I look forward to participating in future comparative studies that involve America, Europe, and with an eye towards Africa as well. In addition to my MSc, I hold an honorary B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of ____ in my native Ghana. I am especially interested in doing graduate work in nutrient removal in wastewater and treatment plant modeling. I have 14 years of experience managing engineering projects and have already spent many years in engineering-related research. I have been a team leader for several pilot projects and have done research on water bodies and wastewater management. Living in Africa, Europe, and North America has helped me develop my critical interest in the environment in various parts of the world. At ____ University, I investigated the reliability of one of the U.K.'s wastewater treatment plant models (Biowin). I would like to again look closely at this model and other models available in the U.S. to closely analyze their efficiency levels for the removal of biological nutrients. I have closely followed how regulating authorities have focused their attention on the reduction of biodegradable organics and suspended solids from wastewater and have rejoiced in the increasing environmental awareness and concern of the public in recent times for protecting our water bodies. I am honored to be able to serve my fellowman, and indeed the planet, by helping authorities to meet increasingly stringent requirements concerning discharge. More recently, this trend has resulted in removing some nutrients from wastewater, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus, and I have a particular interest in this area. PHD Civil & Environmental Engineering Personal Statement of Purpose Example, Writing and Editing Service I look forward to being involved in pilot plant development and expansion. I am incredibly excited by the fact that computer simulation software is now available for the modeling of wastewater treatment plants designed to remove biological nutrients. I see an opportunity to continue to study in the Global North as a learning experience that will prepare me to become deeply involved in wastewater management at home in Africa. I am concerned with the communication aspect of environmental preservation, working to heighten awareness among African educators of the critical importance of protecting our water supplies. A significant barrier to Africa's waste management is the fact that most are ignorant of the consequences of indiscriminate disposal of waste. Research into wastewater management in Africa is needed in many areas including public administration and civil engineering. I look forward to contributing to consciousness-raising efforts concerning the relationship between water supply and human disease. In America, I am concerned that the chronic level of pollution in many recreational bodies of water also poses health risks. Finally, I would like to express my keen desire to serve as a research assistant in your department. I want to thank you for considering my application. • PHD Construction Management Environmental Science

PHD Construction Management and Environmental Science Personal Statement of Purpose Examples I am a young Saudi Arabian who has been reading everything that I can find about green building practices since I was an adolescent. Even my social life is made up mostly of people with related interests. I never get tired of talking about construction, especially in wood, and the exploding possibilities in science and technology that enhance opportunities for engineered wood products, and the overlap with the larger building industry. I have a special interest in tropical timbers and there use in my home country of Saudi Arabia, in terms of wood anatomy and ultrastructure as well as wood treatment. This is why ____ is my first choice for graduate study, because these areas of greatest interest to me are all emphasized in your program. I was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, one of the most beautiful coastal cities in the Middle East. I have a profound love for nature, an environmentalist who believes in caring for our planetary home through the encouragement of sustainable development. I am deeply concerned with environmental issues, especially the way in which our global society is losing our timber resources at an alarming rate without replenishing the supply, particularly in Africa. I look forward to working on the forefront of the employment of new construction technology in accordance with the implementation of environmental protection mechanisms. Green building is still in its infancy in Saudi Arabia. Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Construction Management Personal Statement of Purpose Writing and Editing Service The policies that are developed over the next decade or so will have a profound impact on our ability to preserve the environment. The mistakes that will be made or the failure to find the courage as a society to adopt bold and very costly measures so as to protect our environment and literally lay the foundation for our future, will determine to what extent our children and grandchildren will be able to continue to develop and remain competitive in a global economy, especially in a post-oil driven world. Saudi Arabia is like a drug addict with its oil and faces drastic long-term challenges to readjust to cleaner technologies, especially solar. I look forward with great enthusiasm to participating in the exciting decision-making process of discovery and difficult choices that will have to be made. For me, the personal, the professional, and the political are all intertwined, and I am very much engrossed in how the political process is playing out in my country and the very real opportunities that exist for adopting bold measures in coming years to protect our environment. To the best of my ability and with the help of the marvelous education that I hope to receive in your PHD program at the ____ Institute, I will struggle for the rest of my life to make all Saudi Arabia's cities Green Cities. It is time for Saudis to begin taking very seriously the need to search for and adopt alternative building solutions that are both economically viable and environmentally friendly it can be done so we do not jeopardize the future of children to enjoy this planet as we have. I am an excellent candidate for your program because of both my education and professional experience. I gained 4 years of experience in one of the leading construction companies in Saudi Arabia and I am the owner of a company specializing in both building and landscape design. I obtained a full educational scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in Saudi Arabia, and I have also had the privilege of attending numerous exhibitions. I am a member of various professional organizations and very dedicated to arduous work to reach my goals, for my family, my country, and most importantly the natural environment and those who will inhabit it across generations to come. PHD Environmental Studies Personal Statement of Purpose Samples, Writing and Editing Help The PHD Program in Environmental Studies at the University of ____ is my first choice for earning my doctoral degree for a variety of reasons; most of all, I see your program as the finest in Canada if not the world. Originally from Iran and earning my first degree in my country of origin, I have been living, working, and doing research in Germany for the past 5 years. My heart, however, is with my family in Canada, where I am a citizen and where I earned my master's degree in Atmospheric Chemistry from ____ University, serving as both a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant for several years (1999 – 2003). For the following two years, I had the privilege of continuing at ____ as a Data Analyst in addition to serving as a Consultant at Environment Canada. I also gained five years' experience as a Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the University of ____ (2004 – 2009). PHD Environmental Studies Personal Statement of Purpose Writing and Editing Service, Examples I now have more than 20 years of experience as a researcher, consultant, and lecturer working in universities, private, and governmental organizations around the world. My specialization includes a range of issues from atmospheric studies to marine science, air quality being my most central concern. I feel strongly that my extensive background in atmospheric chemistry will enable me to excel and distinguish myself in your program at U of X and make valuable contributions to collegial discussions. I look forward to giving my all to help advance some of the extremely impressive research taking place at the University of ____, particularly since I am highly proficient in the use of advanced laboratory analysis and computer modeling. These past five years at the ____ Institute and ____ University in Germany have helped me to make great advancement as a scientist, thinking in increasingly complex and creative ways about the ‘burning’ issues of our day with respect to air quality and marine chemistry. I have rapidly arrived at an elevated level of expertise in the analysis of many complex chemical and physical interactions of atmospheric and marine compounds with special attention to the sea surface microlayer. Through the carefully coordinated use of both laboratory studies and computer modeling techniques - including microlayer software and CMAQ air quality models – my work has also helped me to make rapid advancement in my communication skills as a scientist, learning how to convey complex chemical and physical concepts as they relate to other academic disciplines; my writing skills have been honed as a result of assiduous attention to constantly improving my own written results, and peer reviews. In addition to acquiring additional research experience here at ____ University, I now also have vast experience processing large volumes of gridded data, including spatial and temporal subsetting and field extraction. I became especially skilled at ____ not only in using statistical methods and using programming tools like Matlab and Python for the interpretation and analysis of large temporal and spatial scientific datasets, as well as the preparation of scientific documents for publication. A future business professional preparing for a master's in business management in Turkey, surrounded by symbols of wisdom, efficiency, and global connectivity. While still only twenty, I am a young woman who is a most serious student dedicated to her career in business. Born and raised in Turkey, I am a cosmopolitan citizen of the world and have been educated since High School in Europe. Taking advantage of Europe's multilingual opportunities, I spent half of my High School years in a French school and the other half in an American one. I will complete my undergraduate studies in London in June 2019 at the____ Business School. I thrive most on business communication, and it is fitting that as a Turkish woman, I labor to become like Turkey, a bridge between the West and Asia, helping to bring together diverse peoples, routes of commerce, and cultural ideas. I am applying to the London Business School to study for a master's in management because I see your program as the best preparation for realizing my long-term goals to become the most influential business professional possible. My central professional aim is to someday become the CEO of my family's company which consists of steel and iron production. This position requires an excellent knowledge of managerial skills and business trends, and even though this is a family position, I need to distinguish myself from other candidates. The ____ Business School is the best springboard for me to continue to make our business prosperous throughout the 21st Century, staying abreast of market trends and adapting our interest to the constant ebb and flow of economic conditions, especially with the complex relationship between Turkey and Europe. Navigating Global Business: A Visual Exploration of Leadership and Strategy in Turkish Business Management. Before returning to Istanbul, I would like to gain as much professional education and work experience as possible to prepare for my career back home. Your master's degree in management will also facilitate my obtaining appropriate work experience upon graduation, further advancing my professional preparation. I am especially interested in doing graduate work in macroeconomics. This interest is reflected in my current project, a bachelor's dissertation on the coffee crisis in South America, helping me to understand better the challenges faced by niche markets and the best way to manage for success during stressful economic fluctuations and downturns. Macroeconomics has been my most vital subject since high school. Nevertheless, I hope to focus my research in graduate school on supply chain management because I see this area as especially relevant to the management of our family industry. In the future, when I run our company, it will be up to me to make critically important decisions that are compatible with trends in our supply chain, helping me sustain a competitive advantage over rival firms. I have always been ambitious and set extremely high academic and professional targets for myself. Mastering a thorough understanding of international business and labor dynamics is indispensable to my future achievement. While our main factory is in Turkey, we have several operations in Albania that account for most of the profits. When we decided to invest in Albania, there was a critical shortage of foreign investment in the country, helping to make our efforts a remarkable success. I very much look forward to learning the strategic skills in your program that will enable me to make ongoing strategic investments in sound ways that bolster our profit margins and, at the same time, contribute to the advancement of developing economies. Thus, I am planning to utilize my education to search for fruitful new avenues of research and investment in other countries. Navigating the Complex World of Business: An Illustration of Analytical Thought and Collaboration in Business Management. Becoming an extraordinarily successful businessperson in Turkey is incredibly challenging since women are only now beginning to fill top executive positions. Yet, I hope to become someday the chair of TUSIAD, the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen's Association, which operates within the European Integration framework implementing stability and growth. This position would enable me to have a most positive influence not only on the economic and social development of my country but also on the advancement of Turkish women in the business world. I have long struggled every day to cultivate an international mindset that will serve me well as a business leader. My English is as good as my Turkish, and I am fluent in French and write the language at an advanced level. My Spanish is much more developed than my Italian, but I am making constant progress in both. I look forward to bringing invaluable professional experience to your program since I have had the privilege of completing several internships in highly relevant areas. A firm believer in corporate social responsibility, I have visited, for example, the east of Turkey with a charity that raises money to build schools in underdeveloped areas. My job was to introduce the children to their new schools, and I am still in touch with some of them. I continue to work extremely hard to become both an exemplary leader and a humble team player, along with the cultivation of outstanding presentation. I especially thrive on challenging tasks, and it would be a great honor to have the opportunity to share my enthusiasm, optimism, and determination with your academic community at the ____ Business School. • MACC Admission Statement of Purpose Indian Applicant

MACC Admission Personal Statement Writing and Editing Service for Indian Applicant I am a Company Secretary and Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Commerce holder from India, now residing in Arizona. After I moved to the United States with my husband, I took and passed all four examinations to qualify as a CPA with the Arizona State Board of Accountancy, on my first attempt. I am also a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants. I am aware of the considerable reputation of the faculty members and of the school itself, especially in research. I am particularly interested in the work of Drs. ____ and ____ in the areas of auditing and corporate governance. I also know that there will undoubtedly be numerous professionally qualified applicants for the program for which I am applying. However, I feel sure that my extremely broad professional background and experience, my substantial academic record and my personal qualities of determination, academic curiosity, diligence, and leadership together with enthusiasm and passion for my subject will enable me to be an asset to the MACC program at the school. I am confident that I shall be able to provide considerable interesting and practical ‘yeast’ to my class in the program by reason of my experience. I should also hope to provide input into research, in such areas as auditing or corporate governance in which I have ‘hands on’ experience and feel sure that I could provide benefits to the academic community in this way. After passing my school matriculation in India, I decided to take a course in commerce. The main subjects that I studied on this course were accounting and business studies. I quickly became fascinated with accounting and could immediately appreciate how it impacts the decisions made by managers of businesses and the success, or otherwise, of every business enterprise. I was hooked from my first class in the subject and have become increasingly engrossed and passionate about it since that time. MACC Admission Statement of Purpose, Writing and Editing Service for an Indian Applicant Having completed the initial commerce course, I studied for a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Delhi University and subsequently a Master of Commerce degree at Kurukshetra University in which the focus of study was on the topics of financial accounting, costing, auditing, income tax, management accounting, business statistics and financial management. Along with my bachelor’s and master's studies, I decided to seek a company secretary (CS) qualification to supplement my academic achievements and to make myself more useful to a potential employer. I was admitted to the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. I acquired CS certification by examination and by completing an internship. Gaining this certification involved a rigorous course of study which included courses in Company Law and Practice, Company Accounts Theory and Practice, Economics, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Corporate Tax Management (direct and indirect taxation) and Management Control and Information. To qualify, I was required to complete a fifteen-month internship; I did this training with Sunil Kumar and Co., a very prominent and prestigious Indian organization in this field. I was extremely fortunate to have been mentored by a very senior and highly experienced manager within the company and because I was mentored by someone at this level, I had the opportunity to become involved in the company’s work for major clients such as Nestle and Atlas. MACC Admission Statement of Purpose Indian Applicant to Graduate School Subsequently I gained additional experience as the accountant for a small company. This was an exceptionally good decision for someone so recently qualified as I had to do all the accounting and related tasks involved in the running of a company. Thus, I accumulated broad experience over a brief period. I did everything required of an accounting department in any company, from the basic tasks of maintaining the ledgers, bank reconciliation, cash flows etc. to the most important, such as the preparation of management reports and financial statements and handling the tax affairs of the company. This experience provided me with background and a solid foundation in practical accounting. After three years of employment, I decided to set up my own accounting firm. This was an exciting and challenging experience involving skills required in the marketing of a service. I learned the importance of creating and maintaining business contacts to attract new clientele. This experience was another key step in my professional progress and taught me a great deal about myself and about the practicalities and day to day difficulties and decisions required of entrepreneurs. I would suggest that running their own small business and so putting themselves in the shoes of their future clients, is something that all those wanting to work in the world of accounting should attempt. However, I soon realized that it was too early in my career to have made such a choice, and I decided to seek more experience in a corporate environment. I next joined a 100% export-oriented manufacturing and trading organization. My knowledge was put to the test when I was asked to obtain the orders of Amalgamation for two associate concerns of Taurus India Limited. This was a huge assignment for me that involved preparing a prospective Balance Sheet for the company, finalizing the creditors and debtors accounts, discussing with the directors of the company the financial arrangements for the organization, working with the statutory auditors of the company and, not least, making arrangements with the bankers. I was able to obtain the orders of amalgamation from the High Court within six months. My subsequent employment, including some time with a major world corporation, involved me in a very vast variety of accounting and related activities including regulatory compliance, management accounting, payroll processing, and risk assessment. Thank you for considering my application to join the MACC program. MACC Admission Statement of Purpose Indian Applicant
