Originally from Santa Ana and raised in Riverside, I am a young Laotian woman proud to contribute to California's rich and intricate ethnic diversity. My passion for numbers, order, principles, honesty, and fair play has long drawn me to the field of accounting. My top choice for graduate studies is XXXX University due to the program's outstanding quality and its appeal to a diverse student body from around the globe. I am highly impressed with the pedagogical research in your department and the promotion of connections with the business community through professional associations.
I fully embrace the vision of your department and eagerly anticipate a rigorous exposure to conceptual, theoretical, and practical applications and issues. I would be especially honored to engage in faculty and student interactions with the business community. I am committed to lifelong learning and dedicated to making numbers work for businesses, ensuring their integrity and profitability. Through consulting, I aim to positively impact society.
I view accounting as the backbone of the financial world and aspire to play an active role in maintaining financial order. My interest in accounting and international taxation aligns with the program's commitment to excellence in this area. Upon completing my M.S. in Accountancy, I plan to obtain my CPA and consulting certifications and begin consulting for a top accounting firm. I am also passionate about travel and aspire to become a traveling consultant, eventually becoming a partner and starting my own company. Additionally, I speak and read Spanish and look forward to utilizing this skill in my career.
My professional and volunteer experiences are significant aspects of my application. I have volunteered with three different chambers of commerce, organizing and staffing events, and have professional experience in property management, where I handle some accounting tasks. These experiences have contributed to my growth and, I hope, compensate for my less-than-stellar academic performance. Entering college at sixteen, I faced many distractions, but now, having graduated, traveled, and settled into a fulfilling career, I am a strong candidate for your program.
I am prepared to devote 150% effort to earn my degree, willing to sacrifice my well-paying, full-time job to become one of the program's top students. I am deeply passionate about my education and career, as I will be the first in my family to earn bachelor's and master's degrees. In addition to visiting Laos, my homeland, and much of the U.S., I have spent considerable time in Thailand, Japan, China, and Cambodia, enhancing my potential to work effectively in international taxation in Southeast Asia.
