Master’s Degree in Accountancy Excelling in Corporate Diagnosis Examples, Writing Help

My grandfather, an accounting professor, hosted me in his home for ten years. His passion for the subject meant that by the age of sixteen, I had a strong grasp of accountancy. I discovered it wasn't a 'dry subject' but rather a fascinating one that demands skill and dedication. He likened a skilled accountant to a 'corporate physician,' proficient in diagnosing, measuring, and interpreting corporate 'vital signs' to apply necessary remedies. My brothers also pursued accounting, indicating a family tendency towards this captivating field.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Economics with a Mathematics focus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Recently, I completed the university’s “Accountancy 100” course, earning an ‘A’ grade. I thoroughly enjoyed this formal introduction to accounting and excelled in it. Assisting classmates with challenging accounting concepts brought me great satisfaction.

I assisted my Economics professor with a research project on the airline industry, which I consider highly relevant to my application. I examined why some companies failed while others succeeded, analyzing past accounts and business decisions to identify patterns and trends. This rewarding experience provided significant insights into an important industry. I enjoyed this research experience and hope to engage in similar industry-focused research during the program. I am also interested in the intersection of business law and taxation, aiming to assist companies with tax matters in the future.

Accountancy Age Magazine highlights a significant shortage of Chinese-speaking accountants, expected to last at least a decade. This shortage affects the growth of the Chinese economy and, consequently, the global economy. I hope to contribute to addressing this pressing need.

During a summer vacation, I returned to China to participate in volunteer work with other US-based students. We visited a poor rural community, assisting junior high students with English studies, sharing insights about life in the US, its history, and our experiences. We also provided them with used English books we collected. The community relied on well water and lacked internet access, which was a stark contrast. This experience was invaluable, as I had to plan engaging lessons, capture and maintain the students' attention, and coordinate with my colleagues. The students appreciated our interest, making it a humbling and rewarding experience. I hope to return and repeat or undertake similar activities in the future.

As Treasurer of the Chinese Undergraduate Student Association during my studies, I improved vague financial controls. I also held intriguing internship positions, offering exposure to corporate life and equipping me with relevant experiences for the program and my future work.

Since arriving in the US, I have embraced working, studying, and socializing with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. I look forward to furthering these experiences in the program. Adjusting to a new culture has been enriching, albeit occasionally confusing.

I recognize that the program will attract many qualified applicants. However, I consider myself an exceptional candidate. My relevant bachelor's degree, internship experience, success in ‘Accountancy 100,’ and strong foundation in basic accounting concepts demonstrate my aptitude for accountancy. My research experience and eagerness to expand it further support my application. My primary asset is a passion for accountancy and a commitment to significantly contributing to the success of the corporations I will work for.

I am aware of the program's challenges but am committed to fully applying myself, participating enthusiastically, and striving for excellence throughout. Thank you for considering my application.
