A young woman in China who is very much in love with the USA, I hope to compliment my undergraduate education in America with a graduate education at ____ University in Boston. Among all my many favorite places in America, downtown Boston stands far above the rest because of its intellectual atmosphere and the sheer density of the level of academic resources.
The center of the city is my favorite space, and this has a lot to do with the fact that I have my sights set on earning my master's degree at ____ University, one of the principal world centers of business, finance, and commerce. I hope to be accepted into your Master’s in Information Systems Program in the College of Engineering because I see NEU as the ultimate springboard for launching a distinguished career specializing in the field of Data Architecture and Engineering.
I have been fascinated by numbers since my first arithmetic lessons. While others struggled, I saw beautiful patterns and possibilities from the beginning. By late childhood, my love of mathematics had also helped to inspire and channel a great fascination with computing and by adolescence I was already exploring the world of business applications on my screens. I have now earned two bachelor's degrees in the subjects that I love the most: Information Technology and Information Management and Systems.
My studies at ____ University have provided me with a great deal of depth and exposure in analytics and I spend much of my free time these days on Google Analytics measuring and enhancing web site performance. I am currently learning R programming through the medium of on-line tutorials and textbooks. I am determined to be fully competent in this area in particular prior to the commencement of your program.
My academic background, interests and career ambitions have all drawn me to Data Analytics as a a vital component in the success of any large enterprise, private or public. I am also excited about devoting my professional life to a ‘pioneering’ field in which new methods and techniques are constantly being developed and applied all towards the benefit of the common good. I seek the skills and knowledge that will enable me to be selected to work for a large Chinese company dealing with ‘big data’ and in assisting that company in the formulation of effective business strategies. I already have a comprehensive grounding in computing and its business applications so that I will be able to hit the ground running at ____, tackling problems logically in a search for elegant as well as effective solutions.
In 2014, I worked as an intern at the ____ Library in their technology department for several months where I was responsible for constructing, maintaining, and enhancing, computer systems and network infrastructure. This experience has heightened my level of confidence and resolve to succeed professionally.
It is hoped that my dual undergraduate degrees and my internship experience may sway you to accept me to your program even though my GRE scores – except for Mathematics - are not very impressive. Test taking has never been one of my most cultivated skills, and while I have made great strides in English, it will always be my second language, especially when I am being tested under time pressure. I am drawn to the study of data at ____ University not only because of the great prestige of your faculty and comprehensive curriculum, but most of all because of your emphasis of and focus on ‘real world’ projects. I look forward to distinguishing myself in Marketing Analytics and learning from my colleagues from around the world in one of the most diverse academic communities on the planet.
