I hope to contribute to the most admirable ethnic diversity of the University of ____ both as an Arab man who grew up in Saudi Arabia, and an African, since I was born in Sudan and I returned there for my undergraduate studies, completing my Degree in Computer Science in 2009. Now, I live in Washington, DC as a permanent resident and your program at ____ is my first choice for graduate study for a variety of reasons in addition to its location. I very much appreciate the extremely high quality and targeted utility of your “practitioner-oriented” curriculum. I feel extremely fortunate to be living in the Internet age. I see our interconnectedness through technology to be our greatest hope for the achievement of peace and economic development, especially in the very troubled part of the world that I come from, the Middle East and North Africa.

Completing your distinguished program at ____ will enable me to make major contributions to the security of law-abiding citizens worldwide. We have a long way to go in the Middle East and North Africa towards the goal of building stable and productive economies that can compete effectively on a global level. Clearly, we will not be able to make much progress in the absence of cyber security, the cause to which I seek to devote my professional life. While cyber security threats emanate from all over the globe, since the Middle East and North Africa are the epicenters of terrorists on the ground, the cyber security structures of these parts of the world are especially important.

Your program is my first choice for graduate school and the only program to which I am applying because I seek a broad and thoroughgoing exposure to the full range of processes and practices related to the protection of networks, computers, programs and data, protecting them from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. I am most eager to contribute to international society by using the knowledge that I will gain from your program to safeguard information systems that we rely on every day, at home, work, or school. 10 years from now, I see myself serving as a Senior Information Security Engineer for a scientific, engineering, or technology applications company. I keenly look forward to a long and productive career working with teams of cyber security architects and consultants involved in the design and implementation of diverse and challenging solutions for commercial and large enterprise clients.

I am especially looking forward to being part of the rapid and exciting advances being made in cloud computing, aiding the advancement of scientific applications. My special concern is performance and storage issues with high performance computing clusters. I am devoted to solving the technical problems faced by cloud computing and improving its infrastructure to make it the best solution for high performance computing applications.
