  • Accelerated MSc Occupational Therapy Personal Statement

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a logical progression for me as a person as well as for my career. Whilst performing work as a Home Care Assistant for Service Users in their own homes, providing personal care for the elderly and the disabled, I came to realize that my contribution was more than just fulfilling a job: I was adding value to the lives of people. I was encouraging my clients to better themselves physically, emotionally and psychologically, doing for themselves, challenging them and bringing them a sense of accomplishment. I am the footprints in the sand for my clients, working behind them, while I have instilled in them the sense of doing for themselves, and carrying them only when they need the extra support. It is through these experiences that I am convinced of a career in OT. Through my experiences, an innate ability to work with difficult or vulnerable clients and having worked with flexible and effective teams, I will be a valuable addition to the community of OTs and the clients I have been entrusted to serve. On the most practical level, I realize that the elderly are living longer, and there is greater opportunity, if not need, for people like myself who want to work with this unique demographic in Home Care Services. My professional aspirations of Occupational Therapy Consultancy work will be more than earning a paycheck: it is my intention to not only provide services for the elderly, but to also be their advocate in any way that I can, for ethical and social justice. Speaking five languages, having lived in two countries and travelled to seven foreign countries, I have achieved a level of cultural competency few of my classmates will share. I have worked in the most humble of situations and also the most demanding, both on the client level as well as managerial, supervising and coordinating a staff of ten employees - which I hired and trained - in a 35-bed ward of a hospital. From making sure my patients are taking the correct medications to ensuring my clients are doing all they can to better themselves occupationally, I have given all I am to my work. I will bring all of this and more to my work as an OT. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to a personal interview.

  • MA Occupational Therapy Geriatric Personal Statement Help

I want to become an OT professional because we work with patients of all ages, helping them with everything from using a computer to getting bathed and dressed, on the one Therapy goes beyond physical rehabilitation. I search for exercises that may be employed to help increase a patient's strength, especially their ability to manipulate and handle objects successfully, hand-eye coordination; many patients need help rehabilitating their eyesight. The rehabilitation or management of a memory loss is a common need, particularly in the elderly. An OT may need to create basic lessons for a patient, in which the patient is challenged to recall a short list of items. An OT must be able to utilize specialized computer software that aids in the rehabilitation of patients in specific areas such as decision-making skills, solve simple problems, aid in the ability to think abstractly, putting simple shapes or numbers into a logical order. An OT must keep meticulous records of their patient's progress, particularly with regards to therapies utilized. This area is of paramount importance as an OT is obligated to keep physicians and other medical professionals informed, and relevant information is key to the continued success of the patient's progress or for the development of alternative approaches in the case of a patient's regression. The work for an OT is a physically demanding job, and an OT oftentimes spends hours at a time on their feet. The home health care worker naturally spends a great deal of their time driving between patients. These two elements alone can lead an OT to develop problems with neck and back strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, or repetitive motion injuries, especially those OT's that aid in the mobility of patients. Aside from academic requirements, an OT needs to be able to offer compassionate care, executing their work with patience. The OT has to have exceptional interpersonal skills, creating trusting relationships with their patients. While the work has an OT on their feet literally, they must also be able to think on their feet, be inventive and creative in their approach as not every patient will respond in the same way to the same therapy. Adaptability is key, especially in the case of the home care specialist, who must be able to work in different settings. The OT who works in in-home care is bringing healthcare to the patient and makes patients aware of resources. This is why I so very much appreciate your consideration of my application to your program.

  • MA Political Science History Sociology Statement of Purpose

In 2003 I completed my HIGCSEs in Pretoria; the city I lived in for 12 years of my life. I had dreamt of studying in Britain since childhood; this motivated me to gain international qualifications through home study, which in turn helped me to develop my own study style and ethic. So in 2004 I left home and moved to Andover, Hampshire where I took A levels in English Literature, Biology and Chemistry to add to the English, History, Economics and Biology qualifications I'd attained in SA. I currently work to support myself, and lodge with a family from my church. Reading about history, economics and sociology has opened the world for me, and strengthened my interest in development on an international level. This interest originates in my experience of growing up in an emerging economy with many third world characteristics. Studying macroeconomics gave me insight into a new dimension of factors that affect nations, and helped me to further understand how countries impact eachother. Reading modern world history gave me insight into how today's governmental structures and ideologies evolved. Fitting these puzzle pieces together has been very exciting to me. I studied A level Biology to further explore practical ways of becoming involved in third world development. I looked at the work of international organisations such as the WHO, and became aware of the need for insight into the local political, sociological and cultural climate before attempting to enforce or apply solutions. Studying isn't the only thing in life that excites me. I am a very keen rock climber and hiker, climbing twice a week and often embarking on outdoor adventures. I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in January this year. I hiked up Ben Nevis and then from Fort William down to Glasgow in August. I enjoy travelling and am privileged enough to consistently do so, having visited 21 different countries in my life. I am planning to travel further during my gap year; at the same time I will be acquiring further work experience. This year I hope to take a part-time access course in A level History. I've loved reading since childhood. I read fantasy, adventure, classics, and non-fiction. I enjoy Jane Austen, Sophie's World' by Jostein Gaarder and 'Gods, Graves and Scholars; The Story of Archaeology' by C.W.Ceram. I have a huge appetite for learning and absorbing more. I read articles from 'Time' magazine, 'The National Geographic' and BBC, and I use the internet to read around my areas of interest. Listening to music is essential to me; I listen to classical music and a variety of rock continuously. I enjoy art and drama. I speak Afrikaans and French. I enjoy critical and analytical writing. I like cooking. I am a passionate Christian, very much involved in my church community. I soundly enjoyed my academic studies and have often expressed the desire to be an eternal student. I am highly focused, disciplined and enthusiastic. I am well organised, with life experience to back me up. I have also become adaptable, having moved several times both recently and generally. I am magnetised by challenge. I am logical and analytical. I have an advanced understanding of myself and have emerged as an individual. I sincerely believe that I have an extraordinary drive and commitment to bring to my studies, and that my mature, hungry attitude cannot disappoint you.

  • MA Political Science Former USSR Personal Purpose Sample

I was born and raised in Chisinau, the capital city of Moldova, one of the 15 former republics of the USSR. Now 29 years old, I locate the beginnings of my interest in politics at the age of 13 when the USSR dissolved and we found ourselves set half free; Russian troops remain in the country until today. My relatives had to flee the Eastern part of the country during the Transnistrian conflict, just because they are Romanians. Almost victims of ethnic cleansing, my family is highly politically conscious and concerned with social injustice. The limited freedom that we were able to attain made a great impression on an idealistic young man and an aspiring social reformer, writhing to national newspapers about his views of changing the country. I sought to write about the many difficulties associated with nominal independence and democracy, not the least of which was corruption, and this landed me in some trouble since in this part of the world denouncing the illegal activities of powerful people can be quite dangerous. I had never dreamed that I would immigrate to America. I did so for political asylum. I have been an adventurous soul motivated by high ideals and the glamorous struggle of the journalist denouncing the abuse of power, weapons and influence trafficking, for example, in and around the violent conflicts of my native Moldova. A journalist in both Romania and Moldova from 2002 forward, I was also actively involved in the creation of the non-profit organization ACCEP in 1998, which has the goal of promoting democratic values and human rights. I ran into trouble thinking that the truth must be told; thus, I repeatedly lambasted the Communist government of Moldova, its lack of democracy, its subordination to Russia's interests, its corruption and demagogy. As a result, I encountered many problems, bureaucratic difficulties with simple things like getting a passport, allowing me access public information, threats, even physical assaults from so called criminal elements paid by politicians. I owe my life to the fact that I was able to convince the U.S. Immigration officials of the validity of my claims. Soon, what became most important to me was security for my family, especially with my wife's pregnancy. So we came to America, learned English, and are now raising our daughter comfortably and securely. After we arrived, I got a job with the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program and my wife studied for the medical licensure examination. Working with refugees from Russia, I became even more aware of the deep tragedy of the region, the lack of democracy, xenophobia and intolerance ruins peoples lives and retards economic development. Now, since my wife is practicing medicine, I have the time and resources to devote myself to my dream of a first-class graduate education in Political Science. I am now comfortable outside of the fray of journalism and find myself much more attracted to the analytical side of progressive social change and the protection of human rights. I seek an education that will prepare me well to continue my work in political organization through European and Asian based NGOs. I would like very much in the future to work for a think tank concerned with the fate of the former Soviet Republics, especially in terms of economic development and human rights. I am especially interested in studying the emergence and solidification of democracy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Republics of Central Asia, especially with respect to Russian influence and questions of energy and natural resources. I am interested in doing all that I can to provide scholarly support to these societies as they struggle to achieve freedom from Russian economic and political domination. I have long been intrigued by the way in which some former-Soviet block countries, such as the Baltic republics, have been successful at creating vibrant democracies in the wake of the Soviet Union, while others, unfortunately, my country being an excellent example, have been dismal failures. I received an honorary scholarship for my undergraduate studies in Political Science at the National School for Political Science and Public Administration in Romania, graduating in 2000. I also earned a Masters in Communication and Public Relations from the same School in 2004, as I was hoping it would strengthen my journalistic skills, and help fulfill my dream of contributing to peaceful social change. Now, I feel that I am at the ideal point in life to undertake further graduate studies in my area of greatest intellectual intrigue, Comparative Politics. I am especially attracted to the program at XXXX College because I like the fact that there are a small number of students and, therefore, a very high level of contact with faculty. I also appreciate the fact that the master's and doctoral programs are flexible as to fields and courses, allowing students to study in other departments and universities as well. I hope to have the opportunity to contribute to the celebration of diversity at Boston College and I feel that I have much to contribute as a cosmopolitan man who is widely read and traveled. My mother tongue is Romanian and I am also a native speaker of Russian. English is my third language and I am also able to read and understand basic French and Spanish. I feel that my experience as a founder of a non-profit organization in Moldova, in particular, adds to my potential as a graduate student. I want to thank you for your consideration of my application.

  • Real Estate Finance Master's Degree Personal Purpose China

I will be graduating in June (2018) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a BSc Degree in Surveying. The principle reason why I chose to study in this area is because I am convinced that it is excellent preparation for a career in Real Estate. Your Program in Real Estate Finance at XXXX University is my first choice for graduate study for a variety of reasons, mostly the sheer excellence of your program. In recent years, there has been an increasing demand in Hong Kong and China for real estate professionals with a background in finance. Valuation has amplified beyond property valuation to business valuation. With the cutting-edge training that I would acquire as a Master’s Student in Real Estate Finance at XXXX, I feel strongly that I will be able to make my maximum, sustainable contribution to global society. My principle focus is on China’s Greater Bay Area, Macau as well as Hong Kong along with the mainland cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, and Zhoqing – all forming an integrated economic and business commonwealth and hub for international commerce. Increasingly in Hong Kong, property transactions are taking place as part of company stock exchanges, rather than simple property transfers. Since 2008, when property prices skyrocketed in Hong Kong, every year, experts believed that the value of property in general would fall that year, and it still has not happened. I am keenly interested in further study into prospects and likelihoods for Hong Kong real estate prices to hit a threshold. Companies across different sectors are beginning to put more emphasis on real estate during their IPO or M&A processes; and beginning to realize that real estate strategy plays a vital role in the generation of profits. Property prices, especially for residential properties, are among the highest in the world in Hong Kong and the number of transactions has been falling, suggesting that prices are simply out of reach for most potential investors. My long-term goal is to become a major player in China’s Greater Bay Area in the field of Real Estate Finance. I plan to devote my professional life to the cultivation of my niche in the area of Real Estate Finance at the service of the Greater Bay Area. While traditional real estate consultancy firms provide a wide range of services, I plan to seek special excellence in the area of finance through exclusive service to this aspect of the real estate industry. I see great potential for this fundamental service, especially with respect to the Greater Bay Area. My undergraduate studies in Surveying have allowed be to gain deep insight into the real estate industry and I had a chance to develop my skills in a variety of real-estate-related areas in addition to property valuation. My thesis for my Bachelor’s Degree, for example, focused on the relationship between property price and urban renewal projects. I feel strongly that my academic and professional training so far will enable me to hit the ground running and excel in Real Estate Finance at Cambridge. With property valuation becoming more business orientated locally and nationally, I believe that having extra professional knowledge on real estate finance will benefit me throughout my career as a real estate professional. I have worked for XXXX, one of Hong Kong’s largest real estate firms, as a summer intern in 2015, gaining invaluable experience in performing property valuations for Mainland Chinese clients such as Evergrande, one of the biggest property developers in China. I have also worked in the public sector as a summer intern in 2016 for Hong Kong’s Rating and Valuation Department. There, I learned a great deal about how the rating system works in Hong Kong and the differences in valuation between public and private sectors. During my first year of undergraduate studies, I started up the Esports Society at my university alongside several friends. Collecting over 1800 signatures (10% of the students) from students in my university for the formation of the society greatly enhanced my interpersonal skills. Leading the society in hosting multiple tournaments and setting up multiple meetings within and outside of the society allowed me to become a proficient leader. I have great passion in taking a leadership role and I believe that Real Estate Finance at the University of XXXX can help to accelerate my plans still further for the foreseeable future. I have served as a volunteer with the Urban Renewal Authority, helping to develop and implement our Community Service Partnership Scheme (2015/16). I found great joy in this position helping to improve the living quality of many families in need in Hong Kong. 2017 was my finest year so far as a student, since I was most honored and pleased to serve as Research Assistant at my University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I thank you for considering my application to Real Estate Finance at XXXX University.

  • Master's Real Estate Development Latinx Personal Statement

I am a Latino real estate professional who has been working in the industry since my graduation from college with dual degrees in Management and International Business in 2001. Since then I have been devoting myself almost exclusively to real estate development, both in Miami and Mexico City. Over the course of these past 15 years, I have been exposed to a broad variety of challenges in the Real Estate Development Industry, almost all of which I have met with my utmost strength and dedication, generally overcoming the obstacle. Where I have failed, I have learned a great deal from my mistakes. While my mother is originally from Cuba, my father was born in the US to a Cuban father and a Puerto Rican mother. Both of my parents, however, fell in love with Mexico City early on and it has been our second home for decades. Attending school for years growing up in Mexico helped me to develop an identity of being Latino that incorporates several ethnic varieties. I have long dedicated myself to building upon each one. I now see both Miami and Mexico City as my permanent homes and I have supplemented my experiences at home by travel to Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize, Bahamas, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Maldives, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, and Cambodia. I hold three current professional positions serving as a Managing Partner with ATMA Real Estate Network, the CEO of Inverproperties LLC - both organizations dedicated to multifamily units; I am also a partner in and serve as the General Manager of Grupo Inverproperties S.A. de C.V. where I develop new shopping center models for Mexico. XXXX University’s Masters in Real Estate Online is my first choice for graduate study because of the in-depth character of your curriculum. I see it as the flagship program in our industry and I particularly look forward to learning everything that I can about asset classes, especially multifamily and industrial, since I'm currently working on several projects wherein these components are particularly critical. I could not be more excited about my current engagement with the development of shopping centers for smaller communities in Mexico. I am especially pleased with a model that I have created for a movie-theatre-anchored shopping center for a city of between 70 to 150 thousand people. In Mexico, many communities of this size have no movie theatre at all; some have no shopping center, with people having to drive at least an hour away to enjoy these conveniences. Shopping centers have become areas for families to spend the day in Mexico, with kids hanging out in a safe place where there is a certain level of security monitoring. I like to think of the shopping centers that we are developing for Mexico as sound models for other parts of the Developing World, providing centers of social gravity that serve vital community needs and promote economic growth in healthy ways that contribute to the long term sustainability of communities. Quite simply, I want to earn my Master’s in Real Estate at XXXX because I want to become better at what I do, make the soundest investments possible, constantly staying abreast of cutting edge developments in my field and harnessing the creative energy of my professional colleagues in my own endeavors. I count myself fortunate to have my own development company and being my own boss. A few years after graduating college, I had decided to study towards an MBA and was preparing to take an entrance exam in this area when I was approached by one of the largest real estate developers in Mexico and was invited to join the Retail Development Team. Looking back, I am glad that I dropped those plans for the MBA and that I have waited until many years later for graduate school, bringing with me the wisdom and experience that I have no acquired. This offer that drew me into the real estate world turned out to be an ideal opportunity. The company had just partnered with 2 giants in the industry, Kimco and GE Capital, and I also gained experience working with Reits in Miami in the area of Capital Markets. I look forward to decades to come as a real estate development professional working with increasingly diverse types of projects not only retail or residential but also office, industrial, etc. I am now at the right place in my life to work to excel in an online Masters program, working at my own pace towards the fulfillment of my dreams. Learning from XXXX’s exceptional professors and benefitting from their vast knowledge and experience will enable me to become a stronger and more prescient industry leader in Mexico and the US with an inherently bi-national perspective on international business. Real Estate is my passion, what I do every day, and what I want to continue to do for the rest of my life. Being a real estate leader for me is all about service to the community which is the center of my world. I'm involved in supporting various charities in my local community, mostly working through municipal governments, programs for children, toy drives, food drives. etc. This aspect of success is also central to my life and professional identity. I thank you for considering my application to XXXX.

  • Master's Real Estate Personal Purpose Statement Indian

XXXX University’s cutting-edge Master’s Program in Real Estate Development is the best springboard to put me where I want to be. While I am already a successful real estate broker and developer in Los Angeles, I want much more. Your program at XXXX will be the foundation upon which I rise to the cutting edge of real estate development in one of the world’s most competitive markets. Georgetown is my first choice because I see your program as the most rigorous and thoroughgoing among available online programs. Now 39 and a well established real estate professional, I am an Indian man who has lived in Los Angeles since my family came to America when I was 10 years old. LA has thus been central to my identity formation and this is reflected in the fact that I am an amateur magician in my spare time and a member of the Academy of Magical Arts based in Hollywood’s Magic Castle. The magic of Los Angeles which occupies the vast majority of my energy, however, is its dynamic real estate market. Wealth is not the principal end towards which I strive; rather, I see personal victory through professional growth. No magic will be involved in earning my Masters Degree through XXXX, however, just a lot of hard work. I have been in real estate since 1999 and the brokerage/construction industry since 2008. I have successfully raised capital for a large number of projects and I am currently expanding into larger multifamily and commercial office developments. I have a solid foundation in accounting and finance which has enabled me to raise capital for my projects. I am skilled at the development of financial models that are project specific and that in line with each investor terms. Every investor is different and requires some out of the box thinking at which I excel. I earned my MS in Marketing Management from XXXX in 2006. While I did not distinguish myself as an undergraduate student, I take pride in how very hard I have worked since I graduated, building my career in real estate. In addition to being a licensed broker, I am also in the process of finalizing my contractor’s license. I manage a number of ground-up developments in addition to operating my own brokerage. I look forward to a professional lifetime of devotion to real estate that lies ahead of me, developing and constructing value-added assets that benefit the community as a whole, as well as private individuals. Within a few years, I hope to be managing a boutique real estate development fund, and increasingly becoming recognized among Real Estate professionals in Los Angeles. I hope to achieve a better understanding of commercial real estate development and this includes but is not limited to finance mechanisms, structured financing, and fund management. I also hope to enhance my understanding of the legal framework and deal flow from the accounting prospective, becoming a master at the attraction of large institutional investors and managing constant and incremental commercial development. Your program at XXXX is focused on exactly what I want to do. Most agents I talk to understand many of the general challenges facing the market but lack an adequate knowledge base in the areas of lending and construction in particular. I hope to contribute to filling this void and making information more accessible to buyers, sellers, and agents alike in these areas in particular. While these services are frequently available for high-net-worth investors in the development industry, they are also increasingly needed by brokers in order to stay competitive. In the future, I hope to offer a broad spectrum of services that encompass all stages of the process from development through construction and sales. I want to design and develop state-of-the-art, one stop shops for buyers, sellers, and investors alike; forming strategic partnerships with architects, engineers and our field service team. My team already has decades of cumulative experience in ‘fix n flips’, ground up construction in residential development, and institutional asset management. With extensive knowledge and experience, our time frame for assessment is quite short and our due-diligence in-house is of the highest order. I am currently making final preparations to begin using a Matterport camera for 3d walk-in-tours and built-in-offer platforms that will allow me to provide a very unique marketing package. Sellers will be impressed by our ability to reduce time on market as well as our dependence on open houses. Buyers will enjoy walking through homes on the market and comparing floor plans without ever leaving the comfort of their own home, even making offers online. While I have competitors who are also developing this technology, I am confident that the way that I am putting it all together will result in a customer experience that is unsurpassed in LA. I thank you for considering my application to XXXX.

  • MS Real Estate NYC Harlem African American Personal Help

XXXX University’s MS in Real Estate Program is my first choice for graduate school for a variety of reasons. Most of all, I appreciate the way that you emphasize the importance of contributing to the inclusive and sustainable development of communities as well as the need for corporate and social responsibility. My long term goal is not to become as rich as possible; rather, I see real estate development as a social and potentially even a humanitarian service; and I hope to someday become a real estate developer not only in my native New York but also in the land in which I was born and raised, Haiti – farther down the road in my career. I look forward to contributing to the diversity of your program at XXU as someone who is fully multicultural, since I was raised in Haiti and did not immigrate to America to reunite with my family here until I finished high school. A little more than 6 years ago, watching the scenes of suffering and destruction caused by the earthquake in Haiti, caused me to bond again in my heart with the land where I grew up and this tragedy enhanced my passion to help my people at least at some point in my career - when I have more experience, time, and freedom. XXU has a very dynamic Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies as well as a Haitian-American student union. I will thus feel much at home at XXU, bonding with the Haitian and other Caribbean communities. Learning the cutting-edge of real estate development will empower me for decades to come, constantly enhancing my real estate management and development skills working in the world’s most dynamic markets. I hope to acquire the cutting edge creativity that will enable and inspire me to pass over hurdles along the way working in competitive and challenging scenarios. Real Estate is a career change for me since my area has up until now has been IT. I want very much to put the IT to work in the real estate industry and I will probably be called the IT guy in the future at any firm where I might work. I hope to start my own brokerage at some point. I hope to make my professional mark making affordable housing more “affordable” for low income families in New York and surrounding areas. I feel strongly that a lot of families have problems because they work to much with too little time to devote to family life, and many if not most young parents do this in order to pay the exorbitant rent prices of New York City. Harlem is my home and I have a special interest in what I call black real estate. My interest in real estate really took off in college as a result of working as a resident assistant (RA). I quickly noticed how that by their junior or senior year students were looking to move off campus and by the time I graduated I had made my first investment in off-campus rental property, renovating much of it myself while I lived in the basement and rented the upstairs floors college students. Two years later, in 2007, I bought another home in foreclosure in the same neighborhood to rent out. Discouraged by the crash of 2008, I just focused from that time forward on everything IT. Last year I earned my real estate broker’s license and I’m currently attending a Real Estate Associate Program in NYC called REAP – which will end on May 5th. Earning my Masters at XXU in Real Estate will provide my with the foundation for a long and highly fulfilling lifetime in real estate development, a professional with a social purpose and someone who will never forget from whence he came. I thank you for considering my application.

For the past eight years, I have maintained a conceptual continuity in my academic and professional careers, an unswerving commitment to providing the finest Accountancy and Real Estate finance service that I can. I have faced each new challenge with increasing creativity, enthusiasm, with a work ethic and discipline born of six years of serving my country in the US Army. Moreover, I have been left wanting to give that much more, on a greater scale, and to be a greater contributor in my work in Real Estate. At my current academic level, I will quickly exhaust every avenue of opportunity. Turning to my alma mater, UXXX, continuing a successful academic relationship is more than a logical choice; it is a natural and ideal path to bringing my plans, ambitions – my dreams – to fruition. Earning my MS in Finance, with a Real Estate focus will enable me to fill a rising need I have seen in the San Antonio area. There is a growing population of retirees who desperately need adequate and affordable housing for their twilight years. Military and student populations are increasing, and they too have their unique needs, particularly for rental properties. Building my exposure in the field, namely advising the management team I am a part of, I will be better able to seek out and procure more profitable financing solutions for our company and clients. Moreover, I am aiming to be the owner of a Real Estate Holding company, one that will invest in Real Estate projects in and around XXXX with the goal being a revitalization of specific, key areas. Increasing my depth of understanding in Real Estate Finance will lay the necessary foundation from which to develop my short and long-term plans, not just for me, but for the people and community I seek to serve. I bring with me to the student body and the graduate program my meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of loyalty, one that has served me well in designing, developing and applying projects in my professional work. These abilities will translate well to the academic program, and anticipate being able to meet the intensity of the curriculum. For over a decade, I have maintained a conceptual continuity in my professional career as the founder and developer of my own real estate development company. I have met my principal challenges so far and been able to take advantage of many valuable opportunities, but I want to give back something more to my community, on a greater scale, and increase my depth of understanding. Entering into an academic relationship with XXXX is more than just a logical step, it is a natural choice given my scholastic and professional foundation that stretches some two decades. In terms of my academic interests, I am intent upon exploring a number of concepts in detail that will aid me in my entrepreneurial efforts; indeed, I have “been my own boss” for some twenty-four years, having owned two successful businesses. My key areas of interest include site selection; land use analysis; due diligence/feasibility; concept land planning; entitlements and acquisition; developer, tenant/purchaser; and subcontractor negotiations, among other concepts. While I have insights into these areas, I require the direction and polish that only XXXX’s benchmark setting faculty can provide. XXXX’s graduate Real Estate program will follow smoothly from my foundation earned from Boston University, which includes a certificate in Commercial Real Estate, Real Estate Development, finance, and markets. I bring with me extensive real world experiences, as well, and hold real estate broker and unrestricted residential and commercial construction supervisor licenses from the State of XXXX. Supplementing my experiences is my passion for and commitment to the community. For me, if real estate development is to be truly effective and embraced, it must first connect with its community. To this end, I have given hundreds of hours to Habitat for Humanity, as well as completing two Boston Marathons to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Moreover, in my work, I have striven to maintain not only an excellent professional rapport with colleagues, and agencies, but also with community and neighborhood groups. The path I have followed, in truth, made for my family, and I, is a tribute and example I mean to set for my pride, my adopted son. My family is my inspiration, and my support system. It is to them that I dedicate my career, and now my pursuit of the finest graduate education possible. No other field has, nor ever could, bring me the same level of personal or professional satisfaction as real estate development. XXXX’s unsurpassed program coupled with a breadth and autonomy of curriculum no other school in the world could offer, are reassuring of the finest academic experience. I am eager to share my own interdisciplinary and transsystemic experiences and learn from XXXX’s accomplished student body and faculty that literally set national standards for real estate education. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Given my twenty-nine months of shadowing a military chaplain, numerous experiences in differing cultures, exposure to differing creeds and belief systems in South Korea, Japan, South Korea and the United States, I feel that I will be a spiritual advisor and counselor who understands the multiracial and pluralistic realities facing the men and women serving. In truth, coming from South Korea, a country where there is mandatory conscription, I am sympathetic to the soldier's experience within a military's mission. Assisting an army chaplain as I have, I was able to counsel troubled soldiers, and was instrumental in increasing the morale in camp. I was impressed, enjoyed and was even challenged in my counseling soldiers from differing backgrounds. As a XXX, I will have the opportunity to travel to many locales, preaching and counseling. I see this as one more avenue of mission work, as soldiers and their needs are just as relevant and real as anyone else's. There is the reality for myself, as well, and working in areas of conflict, or disaster. Therefore, there will be a need to reach out to the people of the country's America's military is involved with. Again, the people affected by war or disaster will be in need of comfort, consolation, and it is to these people that I will be able to bring Jesus word and message. God will be my guide, my feet placed on a path which Jesus has laid before me, bringing his message to all of liberation and salvation. In addition to my chaplain work, I intend to train native students in the Philippines through the missionary training program. By using the military as a vehicle for my mission work, I will be ensuring the future of mission work on a larger scale. My home seminary in South Korea established a Christian University to train native students. I have a connection with the president of the school and could teach my Missiology to them during future summer sessions. Over and above my military chaplain assistantship, whenever I have traveled to places in the past, I have been moved to introduce people to the love of Christ. While I was only in Japan for two weeks, I was struck by the Japanese people's polytheism and worship of idols. The Spirit moved me to share my experiences with God to the people I met. In Thailand, a country rooted in Buddhism, I found the people largely took their poverty for granted. Again I was moved to share the teachings of Christ with the people I encountered. And in America, my home for the past six years, there are many opportunities for mission work, and I have met many people who are not as intimate with Christ as they could be. While they are aware of Jesus, there is a need for many Americans to open their hearts to Christ, embracing his teachings and living by them. And in America, while I have been teaching English to children from broken families and how many there are, in a nation in which most marriages end in divorce I have shared the Gospel of Jesus with them. Volunteering with a local pastor in Pittsburg, Kansas, I have utilized my Korean heritage and bilingual abilities to aid Korean exchange students as well as acting as a court translator for three years in a neighboring Korean community. All of these experiences have convinced me of my love of and true calling for the study of Missiology, and the need to reach out to people of all walks of life. In my homeland of South Korea, I volunteered nineteen months of my time with a collaborative missionary to a socio-economically depressed community. Simultaneously, I taught three semesters of Theology at my home university. I was left feeling an urge to increase my practical and academic experiences within the context of Missiology. These experiences made me want for more practical and academic expertise of Missiology. It is apparent that my Theology Doctorate course of study needs to include a strong emphasis in Missiology. To lay the necessary groundwork for this aim, I will need to work under the heading of Spirituality in Practical Theology, while concentrating on the fundamentals and advanced issues of Missiology. There are certain facets of Missiology I need to explore as I have had little or no exposure to the concepts, particularly international politics, and economic development and how these can have dual effects positive or negative on the mission's strategy. However, I feel that I have a great deal to offer in terms of interdenominational relations. Given my experiences, I feel that I can effectively distinguish between Christian practices that are trans-cultural and those that are unique expressions conducted by a culture, but still express the Christian faith. There is a distinct and causal relationship between Spirituality and Missiology. Firstly, though, Missiology is truly multidisciplinary and I feel I can contribute effectively to the educational environment as my own academic background is well-rounded, diverse, and multicultural. Missiology is the most practical form of Theology anyone could study, as it seeks to explore the quintessential elements of the Christian missionary's work. Spirituality is an interlacing of creed, and faith. Missiology then complements Spirituality in that Missiology is the method by which the missionary brings people to their ultimate purpose, beyond the physical, to their connection with God. Missiology is an examination of and literally a maintenance of the bond, the tying of a person's soul by a spiritual umbilical cord by which we are fed and maintained by the Holy XXX has an incredible heritage over 150 years of conceptual continuity and educational excellence. I would be proud to count myself among its distinguished alumni, and to immerse myself in an academic environment that is truly exceptional. No other school in the United States can match the coupling of quality faculty, heritage and spirit that XXX embodies. I look forward to the opportunity to develop myself as a creative leader for effective Christian missionary work. Your time and consideration is greatly appreciated and I eagerly await a personal interview.

  • PHD TESOL Saudi Personal Statement of Purpose Example

I am a 28-year-old Saudi Arabian man who has dedicated his life to communication in English. I love the idea of a global language, and for better or for worse, history has chosen English. I lived in the UK for a-year-and-a-half, culminating in my MA Degree. This of course was the most professionally formative experience that I have had thus far as a TESOL Professional. I began with Intensive English courses for 3 months in XXXX College in Edinburgh. Then I moved to Durham. First I took an English course for academic purposes for 3 months in the University of XXXX then I started my Master’s studies and finished in one year. I visited the USA for 2 weeks on behalf of the language centre where I worked. We visited 6 States including New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Texas, in order to closely observe ESL centres. We also went on similar discovery missions to visit ESL centres in France, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain. In 2011, after earning the MA in Arabic/English Translation and Interpreting from the University of XXXX, I was appointed to XXXX University (Saudi Arabia) as a lecturer in English Language as well as a counselor and Vice Rector for Academic an Educational Affairs. Having had this opportunity to serve the university as a lecturer in English Language has helped to make me more aware of the challenges of teaching English to students and the linguistic hurdles that they face, in fact, a whole range of obstacle that impede their ability to acquire English. I have always gravitated towards the Liberal Arts and especially languages and translation. I seem to be drawn to path of the language professional as a result of a very early identification with words, and began learning English while still a small child as well. Thus, throughout the course of my life thus far, my capacity in English tended to serve as a measure of self worth. And this has inspired me to work very hard, to the point where I now hope to enter a doctoral program to study towards the terminal degree in my field. After completing your program, I hope to become the Director of the English Language institute in XXXX University-Saudi Arabia. I look forward to many decades of distinguished service as a scholar in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I have paid a great deal of attention to the issues and research going on in the area of linguistics, insofar as it is relevant to TESOL/TEFL. I hope to continue to focus on this area in your graduate program so that I can further immerse myself in the study of the peculiar linguistic foundations that characterize or undergird the struggles of the Saudi learner of English. I am keen to embark on a life’s work, doing research and publishing concerning pedagogical issues in foreign language instruction in Saudi Arabia. My long term goal is to be a leading figure in Saudi Arabia in the area of English Education, driving the implementation of new programs that are based on solid research into the major weaknesses of our educational systems in this area as they now operate. Saudis have a tendency towards isolationism and self-absorption, and are often noted to be somewhat rigid and inflexible, especially with respect to educational reform, and this is true. I hope to labor to open up Saudi Arabia more to the world through greater levels of more effective preparation in our global language. For two years, while studying towards my BA, I worked part time at two different language centres in Riyadh-Saudi Arabia, where I served as a student coordinator and adviser. This position helped me to better appreciate the complexity of many of the problems in English language learning, and the special or peculiar way that they tend to manifest themselves in the Saudi classroom. In addition to the students who studied at these centres, I also learned a great deal from the teachers, who shared their experiences with me. I made it a point to spend as much time as I could with each teacher, especially the foreigners, so as to learn from their unique experiences in the Saudi classroom. Dealing directly with students and their issues helped to inspire me to pursue graduate studies. In 2008, after I received my BA, I worked at XXXX University in the Rector’s Office as a translator- translating documents forwarded from the rector’s office. This position sparked my special devotion to translation and helped me to more rapidly improve my own ability in written English, as well as contributing to my awareness of the linguistic and cultural differences between Arabic and English. By this time, I was finding myself increasingly engaged with the study of the multicultural aspects of TESOL. The strongest part of my application is probably my professional employment trajectory, since I was first a student coordinator, then translator, and finally a lecturer in English, covering a variety of areas including grammar. I seek admission to a rigorous program such as yours and look forward to a full immersion in theory and fundamentals. I am convinced that, with your program as a springboard, that I will have the preparation that I need for a lifetime of valuable contributions to the study of TESOL in the KSA. I especially enjoy strategies and solutions to English language learning—most particularly as this involves strategies for Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). The greatest contribution that I might be able to make to society would be to facilitate the acquisition of English as an international language by designing everything from new methodologies and techniques to the laboratories where they would be put into practice. I also plan to be very involved in initiatives to stimulate further investment on the part of the government of Saudi Arabia in the area of English Education. I am a dedicated and very hard worker, which is why, for example, I helped to build a fence to protect wild plants that are threatened with extinction in my region where I live. I thank you for considering my application to your distinguished program.
