I want very much to attend the XXXX Medical School at XXXX University because I have always imagined that I would have the privilege of spending my working life as a medical doctor, saving lives, curing ailments, alleviating pain, and contributing to making life better for everyone with whom I engage professionally. In my experience working as a paramedic, I have had the experience of pulling the sheet over the victim's head. The first time I did this I began to tremble. I had learned my first great lesson of medicine: that for all its power, it cannot always prevail. I had experienced what is perhaps the most disheartening and demoralizing aspect of the practice of medicine and faced it head on. I have also demonstrated that I know how to cope with life and death emergencies with confidence, a confidence instilled in me primarily by my certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. I now have the ability to take charge of a desperate situation and help someone in critical need and my experience as an EMT has reinforced my decision to pursue medicine as a career. Of course healing, curing, and saving lives is much more rewarding than trying and failing. As an EMT I have been exposed to the satisfying aspects of medicine in a setting very new to me urban medicine. I spent most of one summer riding along with an ambulance team in Houston. Almost every call we received dealt with Latino patients either speaking only Spanish or very little broken English. And, I suddenly realized the critical importance of understanding a foreign culture and language in the practice of medicine, particularly when serving under-served, minority populations. In transporting patients from the field to the hospital, I became aware of this community's reduced access to medical care as a result of a lack of physicians able to communicate with and understand their patients. I decided, therefore, to minor in Spanish. Having almost completed my minor, I have not only expanded my academic horizons, I have gained a new sense of cultural awareness that I feel is indispensable in today's diverse society. Throughout my undergraduate years at XXXX, I have combined my scientific interests in medicine with my passion for Hispanic culture and language. During my sophomore year, I volunteered at a medical clinic in the rural town of XXXX, Mexico. For one month, I shadowed a doctor in the clinic and was concurrently enrolled in classes for medical Spanish. It was in XXXX that I witnessed medicine being practiced as I imagined it should be: seeing the doctor treat his patients with skill and compassion, as fellow human beings, rather than simply diseases to be outsmarted. I realized he was truly helping the people of XXXX in a manner unique to the practice of medicine. Fascinated by my exposure to this very hands-on approach to clinical medicine, I was thrilled to see medicine making such a difference in people's lives. For me, the disciplines of Spanish and science have become inseparable, and I plan to pursue a career in urban medicine that allows me to integrate the two. Later, I intend to practice somewhere in California with a large Hispanic population. I see medicine as a multi-faceted profession. I have witnessed its healing power, especially in rural Chacala, and I have seen its weaknesses and limitations, facing death as an EMT. Inspired, in particular, by the Latino community of Houston, I realize the benefits of seeing medicine from a holistic, culturally sensitive perspective. XXXX University is my first choice for medical school because I am very attracted to the idea of taking a break from mainstream America and living on a beautiful Caribbean island, some where with low stress levels, achieving and sustaining optimal focus on my studies. I seek a medical education that is as focused as possible on patient-centered care. I see the Medical Program at XXXX as exemplary with respect to hands-on medical education and as setting an important example to the rest of the world. I am keen to study under professors who are dedicated to serving students as mentors and committed to our success. I am an extremely hard working young man and I am very proud of my disposition for working long hours. I am tenacious like a bull-dog and highly motivated. I know that medical school requires great discipline and I have long been building myself up for the task. I have professional experience in several nursing homes where I have worked as a volunteer. And this has been my greatest joy in life, giving full vent to my profound need to care for others, especially older people, and to show my love and respect for them by providing them with very high quality care. I am proud of being Palestinian. We are a long suffering people and we find nobility through resistance to suffering. Often, when one's people suffers so terribly in one's country of origin, this serves to inspire many of us to dedicate ourselves even more fully to working with those who suffer. I would love to return to Palestine some day and help them in the development of more effective medical services. For me, becoming a physician represents the best or highest level of self-contentment that I might find. Because of the thoroughgoing nature of the responsibility of a physician, the inner self of a person like me is most optimally fulfilled. Being a physician is what will most fill my days with joy and make me happy. My father is a physician and he inspired me to carry on a noble tradition. My father's dignity and happiness has been profound and I also want this kind of contentment and sense of fulfillment. I have a special interest in and focus on the family and I see this as a fundamental pillar of my future service as a medical doctor. I hope to maintain this special focus on the importance of family throughout my medical education and experience. I also hope to have the profound privilege to contribute to the diversity of your program and at some point in my career I look forward to using my speaking and reading capacity in Arabic to professional ends. I have long been involved in the day-to-day management affairs of my father's psychiatry office, and this experience, along with my work in nursing homes, has left an indelible impression on me and my hope for the future. I found a special sense of purpose in nursing homes as I was making my rounds: concrete and critically important contributions to people's lives in the most direct and effective ways possible. It has been in nursing homes that I have more fully learned the vast human rewards of service. In addition to being well-read, I have also traveled widely: Egypt, Dubai, Palestine, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, and I lived in Amman, Jordan my freshman year in high school. As a result, I am someone who has a deep and abiding appreciation for multi-cultural association and I look forward to taking part with other medical students in the joys of sharing experiences and comparing notes as we struggle together to prepare ourselves for service in our respective countries or cultural contexts. This is one of the reasons why I think that I am an especially good candidate for a medical program in the Caribbean, because of my deep sense of appreciation and my profound interest in the Developing World. I am young Jewish-Russian woman who has known for many years that my calling is that of a physician, and medicine has long been the center of my interests. Since I am fluent in Spanish (as well as Russian), I feel especially attracted to the idea of living and studying in the Caribbean. I am someone who worships progress and I like being part of new. Thus, I am very much look forward to studying at the still very new XXXX College of Medicine. I am pleased that the York State Department of Education has recently approved your program so that your students are eligible for clinical training in that state. I look forward to the relaxing beauty and tranquility of the what you provide: a medical education equal to the highest U.S. medical education standards, an optimal preparatory experience for the U.S. Medical Licensing Examinations, and an excellent foundation for postgraduate specialty training in the U.S. I feel strongly that medicine is my calling and that I will be among the most highly committed of doctors to the health and well-being of my patients. I am thankful that I immigrated with my family at only 6 years old; this way, it was easy for me to adjust to English. I have now been out of school for well over a year and I want very much to return to professional studies. While my undergraduate degree is in Economics rather than the physical sciences, in order to prepare myself for medical school, I have also studied intensively at the Community College of Baltimore County, taking pre-medical classes in Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Molecular Biology I, Medical Terminology and I am currently taking Inorganic Chemistry II and Physics. Also, to further prepare myself for medical school, since August of 2003, I have worked as a Personal Home Care Provider, administering medication to patients and attending to other needs as well. In fact, throughout these last four years, I have worked two jobs, both in the field of health care, also working as an Office Assistant for XXXX Healthcare Clinics, maintaining and scheduling appointments, etc. I have also volunteered my time at the University of XXXX Medical Center Shock Trauma Unit. The single most important factor that draws me to study medicine in your program in particular is the hands-on learning that is provided from the first semester forward. I am enormously excited about the privilege of accompanying attending physicians on rounds and having patient contact at the hospital throughout medical school, not just towards the end of my training. I cannot over emphasize how important this is to me. I will be enormously proud to attend the first medical school in the Caribbean with a U.S.-model medical education that functions along with a fully integrated hospital. Still only 21 years old, I have worked towards the goal of becoming a doctor for the last several years. As soon as I became serious about this decision, I began volunteering a few hours a week at the East York General Hospital near my home: feeding patients, assisting nurses and other staff, and helping to transport patients between wards. I also enrolled in the Health Sciences Program at York University to prepare myself for medical school. I will be graduating this coming May, 2008. I have had CPR training through the St. John's Ambulance Service. My military education as part of the Canadian Army Reserve has also been an influential part of my life these last several years, helping me to mature and achieve greater levels of focus, determination, and discipline. I am looking for a very rigorous medical training such as provided by XXXX that will qualify me to sit for the USMLE, at the same time that I am very attracted to the school's setting on the island of XXXX in the Caribbean. In addition to the beauty and serenity of the place, I also very much like the idea of being part of a program in a Third World setting that prepares local people for medical practice and is dedicated to making local improvements in health education, research and disease prevention for the local population. Of all of the things that draw me to the XXXX, however, first and foremost, I look forward to the experience of the Clinical Medicine program involving 72 weeks of clinical rotations at hospitals in the United States and abroad. I very much appreciate this hands on approach to medical school pedagogy. While raised in Toronto, I was born in Lebanon; thus I am Arab and Lebanese. I am also deeply saddened by so much violence in the Middle East. Furthermore, my feelings toward the Canadian military are very positive, I truly enjoyed my time in the military; it developed my personality to be more reliable, decisive and a stronger team player. And I believe that it is extremely important to give back to a country that has given me so much. After becoming a surgeon, taking into account that there are very few Arab-speaking surgeons available for service in the Canadian military, I may serve my country again, oversees or at home. I may also find my services useful for humanitarian reasons in my native Lebanon. What has inspired me to become a doctor is the reaction of people who are successfully treated; their joy and appreciation. I have worked over the course of the last couple of years in various doctor's offices doing data entry, bookkeeping, and research on liver disease; and I have performed electrocardiograms on patients. This has further reinforced my determination to pursue medicine.

Experiences and defining moments shape who we are to become. Moments in time, like when a small-town medical doctor diagnosed my little brother with bacterial meningitis, catching the disease just in time and saving his life, have left me in awe of the medical profession and what it is capable of doing. How could I forget the time I was able to save a friend's life during a game of ice hockey, when everyone else was skating away in horror: I grabbed his lacerated wrist, and applied pressure until help could arrive. Later he would receive an operation and 200 stitches, keeping his life and his hand. I returned to that moment in time, again and again, recalling my fascination with the physiology of the human arm. It wasn't a case of simply congratulating myself: I had found my calling. I wanted to become a medical doctor.  From that moment forward, I re-entered college, and applied myself like never before. I managed to coordinate my time between a demanding 40-hour work week as a grocery store manager, with all of its responsibilities, and a full-time undergraduate course load; and I'm proud to say, that I made the Dean's List every semester. While most of my friends watched in amazement, and wondered how I can handle the stress, I felt invigorated and awaited the next challenge. While shadowing physicians in various situations, I have seen first-hand the skills necessary to work in such an environment. The skills are not unlike the ones I already utilize in my management position: leadership, a calm demeanor, maintaining good customer relations, listening to the customers concerns, giving positive feedback, and utilizing and working with co-workers effectivel in cooperation. It's apparent to me that I can bring to the medical field certain lessons I have learned whilst working in management: an efficient and successful working environment is paramount. At the same time, while volunteering at my local soup kitchen, I have learned humility and I continue to help my community using my position as a manager of a supermarket to coordinate fund raisers and donations. In my spare time, I pour over medical textbooks on anatomy, physiology and pathology.  Reading about disease systems and their treatments hold particular interest for me.  I don't have time for the latest bestseller, yet I always seem to have time for Gray's Anatomy. It is my goal, within the next ten years, to own and operate a successful small-town medical practice, specializing in osteopathy. It is my hope that, through my place in the community, as their doctor, I can become an important role-model, sharing my passion and helping others to walk a similar path.

As a young Asian woman with a passion for helping others, I am committed to obtaining my Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree and a Master of Arts in International Relations from XXXX's University's Joint Degree Program to make a significant contribution to the defense of international children's rights and family law this is my life, helping others. I have seen that there are a great nan excellent capable lawyers to help defend undocumented immigrants in the United States and assist in legal issues associated with international development. I have chosen XXXX's University for my graduate studies because of its focus on creating an intellectually stimulating environment by selecting students from diverse backgrounds who can uphold the quest for academic excellence and accomplishment in the practice of law. In addition to my outstanding academic record, I also bring a broad understanding of other cultures and languages, as well as a high level of maturity. As a result tong family hardships, that will enhance my ability to fulfill the expectations of XXXX's School of Law. I have persevered through many difficulties, which has helped me develop a highly motivated and well-disciplined character. I was born and raised in Taiwan until the age of nine. At that point, I was sent to Canada where I was on my own, under the tutelage of a home-stay family, until I was fourteen. My parents had divorced, and I feel,lt firsthand the effects of that decision upon our family and especially us children as we are forced to adapt to difficultchallengingns such as integrating within different cultures and families while dealing with our parent's separation and increased responsibility at an early age. During my time in Canada, I would return each summer to visit my mother and family in Taiwan. When I was fourteen, I returned to Taiwan for two years and later moved to Houston, Texas, where I finished high school and have lived for the last several years. Even though my elementary and high school education was divided between schools in Vancouver, Taiwan, and Hous, ton, I managed to excel, maintaining excellent grades and receiving the National Honor Award for the final two years of my undergraduate studies. In 2007, I graduated from the University of XXXX with a Degree in Psychology and a minor in Chinese. Even though I worked a full-time job to put myself through school, I diligently applied myself to my studies, achieving high marks and regularly making the Dean's list and the National Honor Roll. I did part of my undergraduate studies at XXXX College where I was honored to achieve a GPA of 3.5. I believe that one can achieve high standards of excellence through hard work and determination despite ties or unique challenges. My studies in the field of psychology have complemented my interest in understanding the enormous complexities that underlie family conflict, reconciliation, and success against overwhelming odds. My diverse cultural background has given me a unique perspective on life. Since I have friends from all over the world, I understand and respect the uniqueness of cultural differences and am not quick to judge people. Living on my own since I was nine years old has helped me mature early and given me a sense of responsibility that many young people in the United States have failed to develop. For instance, I have conscientiously divided my time between my university studies and work during the past five years in Houston, often holding down several jobs at a time to my employers; I am a very efficient worker, paying great attention to detail and maintaining a high level of confidence and effective interaction with our customers. Overall, I am a very responsible and goal-oriented person with a passion for making a difference in people's lives, particularly in the area and family counseling. I want to combine my interest in psychology with international law in order tote to find appropriate solutions to the many family problems that result from immigration. I intend to become a lawyer and perhaps, one day, a judge that would be highly sensitive to the special unique abused children and needy families within the judicial system. At the root of my desire to pursue a career in law are an intense love and sense of connection with people worldwide, especially those in need of essential resources. This sense of connection and destiny poignant for me stems from my multicultural and ethnic background, global volunteering, and working experience. I am a 23-year-old woman from Romania who feels strongly that I have already established an impressive track record that makes me an excellent candidate for this competitive program. Experiencing some of the worst moments of the oppressive communist regime, with little access to the outside world, I learned to be patient, constructive, and creative and to seize the opportunity as it arises. I also knew how to exercise a deep sense of moral obligation to serve and help others by participating in the struggle for freedom and peace with justice, an enormously profound passion was aroused deep within me for seeing and experiencing the world of international affairs and relations. Longing for contact with the outside world and to expand my educational experience, I left my home and family at 16 years old and flew for the first time to the United States as an exchange student. Embracing this challenging opportunity, I successfully built a new life in Minneapolis, where I earned a B.A. degree from XXXX College in International Relations with a particular focus on International Business. Despite some catching up to do in English, I graduated in only 3 1/2 years with a 3.81 GPA, Magna Cum Laude, which provided me with a solid feeling of empowerment and direction. I have successfully adapted to a melting pot; of cultures and identities which I had never experienced before and profound changes in my perspective on life, and this has helped me to open up my mind and see beyond my own experience, increasing my desire to work in the international legal field. While in college, seeking to broaden my educational experience and take on new intellectual challenges, I worked at two internships as a paralegal. The versatility and challenge of my work as a more responsible in my decisions and judgments, and this experience has helped me to realize better how much I enjoy learning and challenging myself. I find the work of an attorney to be exquisitely challenging, stimulating, and generally gratifying. Every day, I wanted to research new cases and figure out the pieces of a new puzzle. I see becoming an attorney as an enormous responsibility, which helps keep me focused and committed to what I am doing. During the internships, I drafted wills, prepared papers for the Court, participated in client; interviews and meetings, experienced many cases in court, and even had the privilege of representing the law firm in a Small Court Case once and won. After seeing a lawyer's positive impact on others' lives, my desire to attend law school and pursue a career in law became even more vital. In a further search for additional opportunities to refine my ability to think from multiple perspectives, I studied abroad in Germany for one semester with the IES European Union Program. As part of the program, I visited France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Latvia. I was able to meet with well-known ambassadors, diplomats, and political figures of these countries. These experiences also strengthened my goal to pursue a career in law by introducing me to different aspects of International and European law. The University of XXXX is my first choice for Law School because I want to practice International Law hence, my interest in the joint JD/MA in International Studies. I am also attracted to the department's proactive spirit and proven commitment to community service, as reflected by its multiple Oregon State Bar Pro Bono Challenge awards. Volunteering is not only a passion of mine but also one of my daily vitamins for fulfillment. I have been groomed since infancy for service to others. Ever since I was a small child, I remember spending Christmas day surrounded by orphans. Every year my parents and I would gather hundreds of presents and food supplies for the orphanages in our city. Malnourished and living in abysmal conditions, the gratitude, smiles, and unflinching optimism of these children will remain with me always. While in college, I spent year-and-a-half volunteering with The Campus Kitchen, cooking and serving food to the poorest members of the XXXX community, primarily minorities. I organized Food and Clothing donations, Drove around our campus, and volunteered for the Feed My Starving Children campaign. Honoring my roots and my people, I also spent 10 hours a week in the summer of 2004 teaching English and U.S. culture to children from Romania. One of my significant goals has been to someday build a nursing home for unprivileged elderly citizens in Romania; this resulted from seeing many mothers and fathers being abused and thrown out of their homes by their children. After graduating from college, I returned to Romania and started a campaign to finance and build a Nursing Home for 250 residents in my hometown. I established a budget and detailed plans and began a campaign for support, collaboration, funding, and a search for land upon which to build. We hope to start construction by January 1st, 2008. By volunteering, I realized how much I mean to my community, how much they need me, and how much I can do for them. These experiences have served to fortify me to fight for the rest of my life against injustice, discrimination, hunger, and poverty. Volunteering confirmed my goal of attending law school. I believe I can make a difference in this world. If I follow my vocation of becoming a lawyer, then I think that I will have the most extensive opportunity possible to become an effective instrument of progressive social change. Following my college graduation, I came back to Romania. I started working for XXXX Company as a Vice-President of the Human Resources Department, helping them to promote a new company image. As a VP of Human Resources, I implemented a new Employers Compensation Program, which focuses on employers' needs outside of the workplace, primarily food, shelter, family, and education. As a result of this program, several company employers have returned to college to finish their degrees. I also represented the company at international Trade Fairs and Expositions, traveling in this capacity to ln, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan, and participated at some of the biggest trade shows in the Chemistry Industry. While in Japan, in particular, I learned a lot about efficiency, precision, and the importance of passion for one's work, and I have incorporated these insights into my work in Human Resources. And great passion for work can contribute greatly to a developing economy, such as Romania's. After my return from Japan, I implemented a new Human Resources approach based merely on those three factors: efficiency, preciseness and great passion for work. My long term goal is to some day work as part of a powerful network of attorneys that I help to organize, motivate, and direct; in this way I hope to make as profound a contribution as I possible can to social change. I want to fight the scourge of corruption in public affairs and labor to foster good government and public virtue, enhancing people's access to health care, safety, education, and fair wages. Living under a brutal communist regime in my native Romania helped to lay the foundation for my extremely high level of motivation to help others fight for their freedom and a life with human dignity. By pursuing a career in law, I am following my vocation of making a better tomorrow for people today. I believe that my enthusiasm, passion for justice, and eagerness to share my multicultural experience with others will make a difference in the law school community. First and foremost among my personal and career goals is completing the doctoral level program of study, Justice, Law, and Society, at XXXX University's School of Public Affairs (SPA). Secondly, my distinct ambition is to develop my expertise in politics in developing African nations. Equipped with this level of education and knowledge, I can then positively and constructively contribute to developing, enhancing, and implementing policy formation within these developing nations. Moreover, I would like to devote my energies to the education of future citizens who will be active in their pursuits of justice and equality for all people.   I feel I would be able to make this a reality by working as a professor that highlights the role and extended functions of government in contemporary society. In the future, I envision committing myself to impress upon students, faculty, NGOs, non-profits, and government officials their places in the world as active agents in the interdependence of the global community and even the nature of the earth. When we speak of peace in a region, we talk about peace for all; no country is autonomous or exclusive. When we say improving the natural environment, we are talking about making the natural environment better for all, not just one region of the world. I fully anticipate the Justice, Law, and Society course of study to enable me to impress upon those I work with in the future the need for developing attitudes, knowledge, and skills to work with people from different cultures, creeds, and beliefs systems. Having seen and lived through war, I see no future without avoiding it at all costs. The poor, the sick, and the needy of the world need all that we have. By embracing their needs, we achieve our own. Terms such as foreign policy, national security, diplomacy, and globalization describe the growing efforts of the government to prepare our people to live and function in a democratic and international society. In truth, the terms need to be read as social harmony and equality of life, in a society that professes that no one is left behind and equal opportunity for all, anything less would be hypocrisy.

Coming to America at the tender age of one with my parents, escaping the despotic rule of General Chun Doo-hwan with $900 and a pocketful of hope, we entered the nation of immigrants where we had no friends or family, did not speak the language, and began lacked a college education. I resolved that not today and not tomorrow would help my parents; sacrifices for me have been in vain. I adopted their standards of how to conduct oneself. For half a decade, I experienced the rewards of being a US Army Paralegal Specialist with the Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG). The multicultural experiences I gained from serving in the US, Iraq, and South Korea were invaluable, helping me see the law from many cultural perspectives and making vast contributions to the lives of so many. If I were to continue as a paralegal in the public or private sphere, I would quickly exhaust every possible avenue of promotion if I did not continue my education. I have successfully met every challenge I have faced over the years with an open mind, creativity, flexibility, and determination, constantly struggling to enhance my   professionalism and effectiveness. Perhaps most importantly, my military training has given me the courage, strength, and dedication to succeed. It has left me believing that I can accomplish anything as long as I put my mind to it. And this is where an academic relationship with XXXX Law begins. For my graduate study, I am especially interested in delving into the areas of International and High Technology Law. With my extensive legal and technological background and international experience, this is a natural progression for me. My drive and passion will enable me to achieve my goals, and the JD Degree will open doors for me to honor my ethnic heritage at the same time that I, help to bring higher levels of peace and cooperation to an increasingly conflictive world.

At only 26 years old, I am a young woman who witnessed terrible violence and social turmoil growing up in my native Russia. Having lived in Utah for several years, I now have the maturity to excel in law school and subsequently make essential contributions to the American melting pot in streamlining immigration law and working towards its just and egalitarian implementation. This is why I now want very much to study law and become an attorney. I hope to attend your Law program because Salt Lake City is my home, and I am very comfortable here and have the support of my family. As an immigrant to America, a nation of immigrants, I am very knowledgeable about the immigration process, and I would like to use this knowledge to help simplify the process for others, helping others to achieve the complex won security that I have now earned through a lot of hard work. I believe that America's diversity is her greatest strength, and I see great beauty in that diversity; for this reason, I would like to contribute to diversity in America as an attorney that specializes in immigration law. My long-term goal is to become an attorney with my practice and become heavily involved in pro-bono services. While in school, I would like to volunteer for service at the civil clinic to fill some of the small amounts of time left over after my studies. English has been a tremendous challenge for me since I am a native speaker of Russian, but now that I have achieved a TOEFL score of 104, I have the necessary confidence in my abilities and feel strongly that I could succeed in your program. Before immigrating to the US in Russia, I worked as a Buyer and Head Manager of a Sales Department for five years, supervising six salespeople. Before that, I worked full time and attended school full time simultaneously. I have learned how to budget my time well, and I have tremendous energy and dedication to my studies. A foreigner who is now a Utah resident, my determination is helping me to realize a great deal of upward mobility since I grew up in a poor neighborhood and, in at least 3 generations of my family on both my mother's and father's side. My first choice for Law School is at XXXX because of its excellent reputation, location in San Francisco, and focus on intellectual property and copyright law. I have long been immersed in art, so I want to study law and later practice in San Francisco since I see it as the only American city for art and artists. I have known for many years that I wanted to pursue law as a career and work in the world of the arts. Thus, I see XXXX as the perfect program in the ideal city since so many major entertainment law firms are based in the Bay Area, and this would be a perfect location for me to pursue my legal study while making connections and networking in preparation for my future career, doing internships at firms specializing in IP, copyright, and entertainment law. As to what extent they are protected and under what particular circumstances, I look forward to a long and productive involvement in artists' business dealings with dealers by serving as a mediator, supervising business transactions, contracts, etc.   I am most enthusiastic about devoting my life to the protection of art works and artists. I look forward to taking advantage of my ethnicity and language skills as a Korean woman, working in the arts and entertainment sectors of US- Korean relations, and helping international artists/actors/singers achieve more significant exposure to the American entertainment and art worlds. I see my most outstanding potential contribution to society as being able to help young emerging artists succeed in America, regardless of their social background, immigrant status, or ethnicity. I am a cosmopolitan woman who commands an intermediate level of French and is a native speaker of Korean. Currently working at a small private law firm as an assistant to an attorney who practices personal injury and lemon law, I am most pleased that 90% of the clients represented are 1st generation immigrants from Korea, Japan, China, etc. Assisting these clients with their legal needs requires many translational/interpretational skills. I have gained interpersonal and organizational skills from this experience that will serve me well in the future studying and practicing law. I have become highly adaptable, motivated, independent, and very excited about bringing my artistic creativity, thinking outside the box to your program and contributing to its diversity. The greatest contribution that I might be able to make to society would be to help immigrants think optimistically and creatively about their experience as immigrants in America. Most specifically, I look forward to becoming a voice for immigrant Korean artists in America, protecting their rights and helping them to succeed in a complex world, overcoming many obstacles that stand in the way of their success, celebrating art, diversity, and my people in our new land of opportunity.

XXXX University School of Law is my first choice for law school because I am very attracted to its professional mission of preparing graduates to become responsible, ethical, and compassionate lawyers. I share this goal with myself; it is my ultimate goal. I think that my compassion for others, empathy, understanding, and serving as a thoughtful and reflective hearing ear which genuinely interested, is my greatest gift. I am the goal of practicing family law. I want to be a lawyer because I want to help people to work out their family problems in friendly ways that minimize conflict to the extent to which it is possible and resolve disputes in ways that are in the interests of all members of the family, especially the mother and her children. I am Greek and very proud of my ethnic heritage. From a working-class family on both success over time, having a daughter that can go to law school is an outstanding achievement for my parents. I trace the beginning of our struggle as a family to my father's having escaped several times from an orphanage to where his father was, with his father sending him back each time. This story, in particular, has long inspired me to want to work in the area of family. When my dad turned fifteen, he begged his uncle to let him work with him on these substantial cargo ships which traveled the world. My dad has been to over forty countries, each dozen times. Still, in his early twenties, he stayed in America after being treated for appendicitis and rushed to a hospital in New York. My mom came to the U.S. when she was fourteen. Her parents were farmers in Greece but wanted a better life; most got jobs working in restaurants. My grandma and grandpa were dishwashers, and my mom was a hostess. Within three years, however, my grandparents and my mom bought and opened their restaurant. I am proud to be from an immigrant family and from a background of very hard-working, honest people who have always taught me the value of family bonds and solidarity. My parents met in this restaurant and got married. My mom and dad have owned successful restaurants for most of my life. I have gotten extremely good at running this restaurant, so I can depend on my employees more and more. Thus, I have the time that I will need to dedicate myself almost exclusively to law school. Also, my family is very supportive of my dreams and determination and they are all going to pitch in to relieve me of most of the duties that I have at the restaurant once I start law school.
