I obtained a first-class degree in Architectural Technology in 2009 and have been employed as an Inspection Engineer on the King Abdulaziz International Airport project ever since. I am now keen to gain additional skills and knowledge to further my career, prepare for a PhD program, and become a successful consultant, researcher, and professor in architecture.
I have always been passionate about art and intrigued by the mechanics and potential improvements of things. Thus, architecture, which combines engineering and aesthetics, was a natural fit for me, and I find it highly rewarding. My aim is to create both utility and beauty by integrating classical design with modern materials. Architecture significantly impacts everyone’s life, shaping environments and leaving a legacy for future generations. The role of an architect is substantial, requiring diverse skills and the consideration of numerous stakeholders' needs. I am particularly excited by the rapid advancements in building design and materials, such as those enabling buildings to generate rather than merely consume energy.
My work experience has laid a solid foundation for both professional and academic advancement. I have been engaged in projects from initial sketches to completion. I spent three months in Beirut as a coordinator, participating in project management and contracts workshops, with a role that spanned Operations Manager and Executive Engineer duties.
I grew up in Saudi Arabia and only left the country for my undergraduate studies in England. The cultural differences were considerable, and it took some time to adjust. However, I soon came to appreciate much of the host culture, particularly the British sense of humor. I also admired the diverse modern and historic architecture in Britain and the creativity in building design and decoration. I am now well-traveled and have engaged with people from various cultures and backgrounds, significantly broadening my personal and professional perspectives, and I look forward to further expanding them.
Shortly after starting my career, I began studying for my master's degree part-time. I had to complete pre-Master studies since the degree was in Industrial Engineering. I successfully completed four modules to qualify for the main course. The modules completed were Engineering Economy, Engineering Statistics, Operation Research & Planning, and Production Control. Since beginning the main course, I have completed modules in Advanced Engineering Statistics, Advanced Engineering Economy, Concepts and Principles of Engineering Management, and Safety Engineering. The upcoming semester will be my last before traveling to England and will cover Quality and Performance Management, Production & Operation Management, Managerial Accounting, and Project Management. I have completed ten of the fourteen modules required for graduation and plan to finish the degree after returning from England.
Balancing work and study is extremely demanding, and finding time for leisure and rest is challenging. My workday starts early and ends late, teaching me valuable lessons in multitasking, time management, and prioritization. This also demonstrates my exceptional commitment and diligence.
After careful consideration, I believe your program is an ideal fit for me. I am seeking a challenging yet supportive academic environment, a prestigious faculty focused on the future of architecture, and a program that involves collaboration with dedicated international students for mutually beneficial networking opportunities. I am confident that your program will offer all this and more. I am eager to contribute to the course and assure you that I aim to excel rather than just succeed.
I hold an excellent bachelor's degree in a relevant field, have two years of successful construction experience, and have demonstrated the ability to study at an advanced level with commitment and diligence in achieving my goals.
