Originally from Hong Kong and raised in Canada, I consider myself a global citizen with a deep appreciation for Europe, particularly Sweden. I am eager to join your program as I believe it represents the pinnacle of excellence and aligns perfectly with my professional interests in Architecture. I am especially excited about the opportunity to attend Chalmers due to the dynamic integration of Architecture and Engineering in your program, as well as your focus on green and sustainable initiatives. I am eager to contribute to the diversity of your program, being fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin, in addition to being a native English speaker. My global focus on humanitarian projects makes me a suitable candidate for your program. I have worked extensively in Korea with Habitat for Humanity, building townhouses for low-income families in the demilitarized zone, and with Sichuan 100 in China, preparing presentations and detailed drawings for primary schools in areas affected by the 2008 earthquake.
I possess highly developed technological skills that will benefit me as a graduate student in Architecture, including advanced proficiency in AutoCad, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Architectural detailing, International Building Code (IBC), and Green Building concepts (LEED). I am confident in my strong academic background, having earned a Bachelor of Architectural Science Degree from XXX University in Toronto, Canada, with a focus on project management in my third and fourth years. My primary passion, however, is design, which I have nurtured for many years both academically and professionally. This makes me particularly well-suited for your Matter, Space and Structure Programme.
I am an ideal fit for your program due to my deep passion for sustainable design and humanistic architecture, focusing on long-term user needs and environmental friendliness. I am eager to explore and develop ideas related to these designs and bring them to fruition. In the next decade, I envision myself as a practicing architect with extensive international experience in the Global South, assisting the most vulnerable, particularly natural disaster victims, in rebuilding sustainably and affordably to minimize risks in earthquake and flood-prone areas. I am not only a forward-thinking designer but also well-equipped to tackle technical and administrative challenges. I aspire to establish my own architecture firm in the future. Currently working for ____ Ltd. in Hong Kong, I am gaining valuable insights into design principles and construction and will soon become a LEED-accredited professional to further engage in green building projects.
