MS Food Science Personal Purpose Statement Saudi Food & Drug

I am a Saudi Arabian national currently working with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, where I contribute to safeguarding the nation’s food supply. I have been awarded a full academic scholarship to pursue my PhD in the United States. Raised in Riyadh, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Food Science from King Saud University, and I have developed a strong research interest in probiotic dairy products. My work as a Food Safety Specialist brings me deep fulfillment, and I am eager to expand my understanding of global food safety challenges, particularly through comparative approaches that highlight shared issues across countries.

Looking ahead, my long‑term goal is to apply the knowledge and skills gained from your program to serve as the General Manager of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. I am committed to contributing to the modernization and advancement of Saudi Arabia’s food science standards, metrology, and quality systems.

I also have a particular passion for marine food science, which I have pursued independently through study and international travel to England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Egypt, the UAE, and Bahrain. One of the most meaningful experiences in my career was training with the EU Department of Agriculture at a border inspection post in the Port of Dublin. I hope to help strengthen Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with Europe in the development of marine food supply chains.

My professional journey began at the Saudi Organization for Standardization, where I was responsible for microbiological food testing, specification compliance, and standards enforcement. Since April 1, 2010, I have worked as a Food Safety Analyzer while completing my undergraduate studies. My extensive laboratory experience in chemical and microbiological food research has prepared me well for graduate-level study, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in food science in your distinguished program.

I consider my maturity, strong work ethic, and dedication to continuous learning among my greatest strengths. I feel a natural connection to Europe and am excited about the prospect of studying European approaches to food science in depth, always with the intention of applying what I learn to benefit Saudi Arabia. I hope that this opportunity will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the progress of my country.
