Originally from Santa Ana and raised in Riverside, I am a young Laotian woman proud to contribute to California's rich and intricate ethnic diversity. My passion for numbers, order, principles, honesty, and fairness has long drawn me to the field of accounting. My top choice for graduate studies is CSU ____ due to the program's outstanding quality and its appeal to a diverse student body from around the globe. I am particularly impressed by the pedagogical research in your department and the strong connections with the business community through professional associations.
I fully embrace the vision of your department and eagerly anticipate a comprehensive exposure to conceptual, theoretical, and practical applications. I would be honored to engage in faculty and student interactions with the business community. I am committed to lifelong learning and aim to make numbers work effectively for businesses, ensuring honesty and profitability. Through consulting, I aspire to positively impact society. I view accounting as the financial world's backbone and wish to actively maintain societal financial order.
My special interest lies in accounting and international taxation, and I admire your program's dedication to excellence in this field. After completing my M.S. in Accountancy, I plan to obtain my CPA and consulting certifications and begin consulting with a top accounting firm. I am passionate about travel and aspire to become a traveling consultant, eventually becoming a partner and starting my own company. Additionally, I am fluent in Spanish and look forward to utilizing this skill in my career.
My professional and volunteer experiences are significant aspects of my application. I have volunteered with three different chambers of commerce, organizing and staffing events, and gained professional experience in property management, where I handle some accounting tasks. These experiences have facilitated my growth and, I hope, compensate for my less-than-stellar academic performance. Entering college at sixteen, it took time to mature amidst distractions.
Now, having graduated, traveled, and settled into a fulfilling career, I am a strong candidate for your program. I am ready to devote myself entirely to obtaining my degree, even sacrificing my well-paying, full-time job to excel in the program. My passion for education and my career is unwavering as I will be the first in my family to earn bachelor's and master's degrees. In addition to visiting Laos, my homeland, and traveling extensively in the U.S., I have spent considerable time in Thailand, Japan, China, and Cambodia, enhancing my potential to work effectively in international taxation in Southeast Asia.
