I am a young woman from Russia with a degree in Accounting who won a green card on the lottery and moved to America not long after graduating from college in 2009. I selected your distinguished MA program in Translation at XXXX University because of its sheer excellence and the exciting nature of the curriculum some time ago and since then I moved close to the school and have dedicated myself to preparation for admission. I am pleased to announce that I have passed the TOEFL exam.
I am especially excited about studying under Dr. XXXX, professor of Russian Translation and your Graduate Coordinator. Along with the fact that Russian is my mother tongue, I am also well versed in the history and culture of Russia. I have been studying English intensely since I was 12 years old and I have now spent a total of 5 years in America during the course of which my English has continued to improve. I now feel almost equally confident in both languages.
I hope to enjoy a long and productive career serving my new country through CWU Inc, which provides professional support services to the Department Of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, and other federal agencies. I really would like to work for the government in my future and be a professional interpreter and translator.
Languages are my first love and I am also learning French. I hope very much that I will someday be able to speak French with the level of fluency with which I now speak English.
I have always wanted to be a public servant. This is why I studied Accountancy to become a professional accountant in Russia so that I could give my all as a public servant, helping to make people accountable and to help business to run smoothly. Now that I am building a new life here in America, however, I feel very strongly that my language skills, especially Russian, would be my greatest gift and the most important thing that I can give to my new country.
I am a diligent student and a very hard worker, qualities that I strive to embody in all aspects of my academic and personal life. My commitment to education is reflected not only in my grades but also in the effort I put into each assignment and project. I believe that hard work is essential for success, and I consistently seek to improve my skills and knowledge. Here in Ohio, I have engaged in a variety of volunteer work that has allowed me to contribute positively to my community while also gaining valuable experiences. One of my primary activities has involved cleaning the local park, where I have dedicated numerous weekends to picking up litter, planting flowers, and ensuring that the area remains a beautiful space for families and individuals to enjoy. This experience has not only taught me the importance of environmental stewardship but has also provided me with the satisfaction of seeing the immediate impact of my efforts. In addition to park clean-up, I have also participated in gardening initiatives that aim to beautify the neighborhood and promote sustainable practices. Working alongside fellow volunteers, I have learned about different types of plants, the importance of biodiversity, and how to cultivate a thriving garden. These activities have fostered a sense of teamwork and community spirit, as we all share a common goal of enhancing our surroundings. I love the great diversity of Ohio, a state that is rich in cultural heritage and offers a vibrant tapestry of communities. This diversity has provided me with countless opportunities to meet people from various backgrounds, each with their own unique stories and traditions. I have especially enjoyed engaging with individuals who have immigrated from other countries, as they have shared insights into their cultures, customs, and cuisines. These interactions have broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the world around me. Through these experiences, I have developed a greater understanding of the challenges that different communities face and the importance of inclusivity and empathy. I am grateful for the chance to learn from others and to contribute to a society that values diversity and collaboration. Overall, my time in Ohio has been enriching, and I look forward to continuing my journey of growth, learning, and service.
I thank you for considering my application to your distinguished program.
