I am eager to join XXXX University's new M.S. in Real Estate Program for several reasons, particularly because I am drawn to the idea of being part of an innovative and creative program. I value that XXXX is one of the top universities in NYC, with a campus conveniently located near Columbus Circle, just a few blocks from my current office. I plan to pursue the program part-time, maximizing my learning in the classroom, and the prospect of walking to class after work and attending in-person sessions is very appealing to me. XXXX University boasts a strong alumni network in NYC, and I am enthusiastic about becoming a part of it, as I see this as advantageous for my professional growth after graduating from XXXX.
As a Tibetan-American, I immigrated to the United States at six years old. The last two generations of my family have lived in four different countries. In Tibet, before 1959 when it was taken over by China, my grandparents were significant real estate owners, and my family was forced into exile to India as refugees. This background has fueled my childhood dream of owning investment properties, and I aspire to reclaim the long-lost family fortune, a goal I hope to achieve, particularly if I am accepted into your master's program at XXXX. My parents grew up in India and eventually moved to Nepal, where I was born and spent my early years before moving to the USA, where I was raised. My professional aspirations center on economic revitalization through affordable housing projects where they are most needed. I intend to work as a consultant or analyst in both private and government sectors, with a focus on building sustainable, grassroots communities. From small non-profits to churches or advisory neighborhood commissions, I aim to involve the entire community in realizing affordable housing projects.
I began my NYC real estate career as an intern at XXXX Companies. During my time there, I collaborated with the staff, all of whom held MS Degrees in Real Estate, and learned a great deal from our interactions. They encouraged me to pursue a master's degree as well. After completing the program, I aspire to re-enter the workforce with a forward-thinking company like XXXX that is not only socially and environmentally conscious but also financially successful.
In recent years, I have gained experience in various aspects of the real estate industry. I started my real estate journey in college, working part-time assisting local brokers with commercial transactions for NAI Isaac in Lexington, KY. There, I was involved in the initial stages of acquiring an affordable housing portfolio in Kentucky. The buyer of this portfolio was based in New York City: XXXX Companies. My role in the early due diligence phase of the acquisition led to an internship in New York City. Although my time at XXXX Companies was brief, it bolstered my confidence that I can excel as a graduate student at XXXX, as I acquired a strong foundation in affordable housing development. I later accepted a full-time position as an analyst for a real estate appraisal and consulting firm, and I am currently employed as a Client Manager for XXXX Commercial. My current role has provided me with the opportunity to interact with numerous brokers, owners, and buyers.
Thank you for your consideration of my application to Real Estate at XXXX.
