I am eager to join your innovative program because architecture is my passion, and I am committed to exploring sustainable practices within the field. My fascination with buildings and landscapes dates back to my childhood, and I have honed a keen eye for design over the years. Currently, I work for New York City, overseeing renovations for the Public School System. In your program, I am especially interested in conducting thorough research on the economics of Biophilia and understanding why nature-focused design is financially beneficial.

I am a young woman who is not only an exceptionally hard worker but also highly attentive to details and driven by goals. In challenging situations, I always persevere. I am determined to excel in my field, striving for a seamless integration of architecture and living systems.

Born in Guyana and raised mainly in New Jersey, I became a US citizen in 2007. I began traveling in my junior year of high school, first visiting Paris with my art class in May 2000. In the summer of 2001, my family and I traveled to Barbados, Guyana, and Suriname. Returning to Guyana for the first time, I found my native country captivating. I aspire to return there in my career to assist with sustainability networking and applications.

In 2002, my family and I visited Holland, Italy, Switzerland, and London, absorbing both traditional and contemporary European architecture. Later, as a member of the Architecture Club in college, I traveled to Spain in 2007 and Greece in 2008. Independently, I visited Puerto Rico (2010), Mexico (2011), and the Dominican Republic (2012).

I aim to enhance the diversity of your program not only as a young woman from Guyana but also as a woman of Indian heritage. My paternal grandmother taught me Hindi and Sanskrit, enabling me to read, write, and sing in both languages, although I struggle with verbal communication due to limited practice.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering in June 2008 and have since pursued several certificate courses, including a 30-hour OSHA Training course in November 2009 and a Supported Scaffold User Certificate in June 2009. Most notably, I obtained a Certificate from the Construction Management Association of America in October 2012.

I am particularly enthusiastic about the Capstone Projects, as I wish to delve into sustainable practices, especially the use of reusable construction materials. I view your program as the ideal opportunity to engage deeply with the design of urban green roofs focused on modularity and recyclability, as well as the innovative concept of rooftop gardens with recycled water systems.
