These courses enable me to apply computer skills to real-world challenges, beyond just academic or theoretical tasks. I engage in programming projects through platforms like Project Euler and LeetCode to solidify my programming fundamentals, adhering to the belief that “practice makes perfect.”

I also enhance my math skills through books and online resources, as strong math skills are crucial for creating excellent and efficient programming codes. I have attended several computer science events where industry speakers discuss the application of computer science and machine learning across various fields. To prepare for upper-division courses, I have borrowed textbooks related to advanced studies, gaining awareness of upcoming challenges and the need to learn new concepts and skills at a deeper level. This awareness has only fueled my determination to apply my diligence and enthusiasm.

Initially, I had no experience with C++ programming until it was introduced in my course last year. Aware of its popularity and advantages, I was eager to learn the language. However, I underestimated the depth required and initially developed only a superficial understanding. This led to me falling behind, as I was not delving deeply enough into the new concepts. My lack of understanding became evident during group discussions, revealing my superficial grasp to both myself and others.

Recognizing the need for improvement, I resolved to catch up. Although my confidence was shaken, I reminded myself that my strong math skills meant this area was within my reach. I consistently review class materials and tackle additional practice problems in my free time, confident that this will support my academic success and career preparation.
