The XXXX Faculty of Management at XXXX University is my preferred destination for a master's degree in business with a focus on Marketing and Advertising, largely due to its stellar reputation and the wealth of professional, cultural, and intellectual resources available, including research institutions. My research interests are centered on the intersection of business and educational administration, educational psychology, and multicultural and multilingual education.
Over the past few years, I have volunteered at a school for migrant workers in America, where I teach English and manage visitors and potential donors. Originally from China, I moved to New Zealand at 16 and spent six years there, greatly enhancing my English skills. After returning, I studied abroad in Japan and the USA. Although my Japanese isn't as strong as my English, I am satisfied with my progress, as it is crucial for my career and long-term goals in international business development, particularly in Canada and Southeast Asia.
Studying at XXXX with Professors XXXX and XXXX would be a great privilege, as both oversee research centers at XXXX. Professor XXXX’s AME Centre, which investigates achievement, setting, and motivation, is of particular interest to me. I currently work with elite multinational students in China, honing my skills in addressing their challenges. I frequently encounter issues related to poor motivation and unrealistic goals, with procrastination being common. As elite students, they are adept at self-regulation and goal setting. I am therefore eager to learn more about motivating and supporting them in setting realistic goals in diverse post-secondary environments. Professor XXXX’s work on promoting social inclusion is also intriguing, and I look forward to her class. I have experience in fostering positive communities among students from various cultural backgrounds, actively promoting tolerance for differences such as religion, disabilities, and LGBTQ issues.
XXXX is a dream city for me, as I cherish diversity and multilingual settings, and I am excited about the chance to improve my French. As an arts and cultural events enthusiast, XXXX is perfect, known for its vibrant arts scene. I see earning my MBA at XXXX as the ideal springboard for excelling in the increasingly globalized higher education sector.
Several factors are reshaping Chinese educational systems and norms, enabling more students to seek post-secondary degrees abroad. Online courses are also revolutionizing our educational systems, altering dynamics in areas like faculty, student affairs, and administration, leading to new daily challenges. Greater foresight will be necessary in the future, along with multinational, multilingual professionals with advanced degrees in business and education who can design new systems based on the evolving needs of new generations of students pursuing education in rapidly changing business contexts. I have spent my adolescence and early adulthood in multilingual and multicultural communities, gaining a deep familiarity with North American culture and educational systems through my diverse experiences studying, working, and managing international education institutes. I aim to further research how to empower students and develop their leadership skills and interests, particularly in multicultural education.
Alongside the core curriculum of XXXX’s MBA Program, I am eager to study counseling psychology, student affairs, and school administration, as well as teaching and curriculum design, preparing myself to contribute fully to every aspect of a multicultural educational institute's operations. Earning my master's degree and gaining ongoing experience as an international student will prepare me for a highly productive professional career, aiding not only international students studying in China or those wishing to study there but also Chinese students seeking education overseas. At some point in my career, I aspire to become a senior-level manager of a school administration team, ideally the Dean of Students. I look forward to a lifetime of service, helping and advising students on academic and career decisions.
With over a decade of professional experience in higher and adult education industries, I am adept at relating theory to practical experience. I wish to grow alongside our dynamic, global education industry as it expands and develops, always dedicating myself to helping students make the right decisions at critical moments that will shape their future. As a patient listener, I genuinely enjoy helping others and making them feel comfortable seeking my advice. I look forward to sharing my firsthand experiences of learning and living overseas as examples to help other students adjust to cultural differences in new environments. My long-term goal is to establish my own consulting business focused on preparing Chinese students for advanced education abroad. I am pursuing the MBA because I see business as the goal of education, at least regarding economic development and the pursuit of prosperity. I believe that in today’s world, education is also business, and it must be the business of us all.
Thank you for considering my application to the MBA Program at XXXX University.
