Since becoming a student pilot, flying has enhanced my preparedness for medical emergencies and honed my ability to remain calm and communicate effectively. My first solo flight required significant preparation, and my father, a pilot for twenty-two years, was proud to assist. He introduced me to flying when I was just a few weeks old. Seventeen years later, I was ready to pilot the plane solo. This achievement is particularly gratifying as I anticipate flying regularly throughout my graduate studies for my PA Degree and beyond, contributing to healthcare on the front lines for decades.

A pivotal moment in my dedication to medicine as a PA occurred when I took my grandmother to the doctor after my first year of college. Dr. XXXX was one of the few clinicians who could communicate with her in Persian. During the appointment, I observed her joy at having a physician who spoke her native language and made her feel comfortable. Her grateful smile made me realize I wanted to have a similar impact on others. I immediately called my parents to share my newfound career path. I was excited to pursue a healthcare profession with an advanced degree, providing daily opportunities to inspire patients as Dr. XXXX did for my grandmother. I aim to use my Persian professionally and dedicate significant effort to learning Spanish.

Since then, I have devoted my time and energy to preparing for your program, consistently making the Dean’s Honor List. I eagerly seek opportunities to expand my knowledge of the medical field. I have developed my clinical skills by shadowing physicians, working as a scribe in an Emergency Department, and volunteering at a hospital. I deeply respect a physician’s ability to heal both physical and emotional wounds.

By working as a crucial team member, I can help heal bodies and, with respect, heal souls. As I completed my prerequisite courses, I envisioned my future practice. I decided to perfect my fluency in Persian (Farsi) to give back to the community that has supported my personal and professional growth. For years, members of the Iranian immigrant community in the western USA have helped me, simply because of our shared cultural roots.

Similarly, I look forward to supporting the growing Iranian American community, particularly in southern California. I plan to merge my passion for flying with my commitment to becoming the best PA possible. As a licensed pilot, I will be able to travel wherever my services are needed. After completing your program, I aspire to contribute to organizations like Angel Flight West, which transports doctors and patients during crises. By becoming an Angel in the Cockpit, I could deliver essential medical services to remote areas, reaching those who would otherwise be underserved.

I want to be part of spreading hope and optimism beyond borders.
