  • MA Journalism Personal Statement Samples

MA Journalism Personal Statement Samples I am eager to spend the coming decades fully committed to promoting objective news reporting, as opposed to fake, false, and sensationalist news. As an idealist, I believe there is no greater calling or nobler aspiration than advancing truth in journalism, providing society with news that accurately reflects reality, free from political or economic agendas or any propagandistic intent, as much as possible. Regrettably, it seems to me that US society is increasingly moving away from conciliatory dialogue, attitudes, or attempts to focus on unity and common ground rather than division. I view groups like the Proud Boys and Black Lives Matter as not entirely different manifestations of the same phenomenon, two sides of the same coin. While I acknowledge that no journalist can completely avoid imparting some bias to the stories they present, misinformation is unfortunately becoming the norm. For many who convey the news, this misinformation is increasingly intentional, deliberate, even calculated. Too many in the public arena have declared truth as either dead or irrelevant, abandoning it in favor of strategies to sway listeners to the speaker's interests. Misinformation has infiltrated both major – if not all – political parties in the USA. For many, it is seen as necessary to defend oneself or one’s party from vicious, fake news attacks from perceived adversaries. Nowadays, it is more common to forsake congeniality and grace, adopting a strategy of stooping lower than one’s political or ideological opponents to beat them at their own game, or at least attempt to do so. This has led to significant waste in public affairs and embarrassment for America on the international stage, exemplified by the outgoing President Trump. Of course, there are appropriate times for opinion writing, but I believe such material should always be clearly identified with a disclaimer. People with both liberal and conservative views need a space to express their concerns without being labeled as racist, homophobic, deplorable, etc. I regret having to receive my education in an America more polarized than ever, where emotions run so high on both sides that meaningful and productive conversations are often difficult to have. I admit to having daydreamed about becoming a legal commentator like Nancy Grace. I admire her ability to explain the law in terms understandable to most people. Her show serves an important social purpose by helping ordinary individuals grasp complex legal issues. I admire Nancy Grace because I aspire to a journalism career with educational, human, and social purposes. If I could choose any professional position, it would be a toss-up between being a news anchor for either Fox News or CNN. This reflects my desire for a professional center rather than a Left or Right slant. I view both networks as biased in their respective directions and aspire to engage in something more balanced. I am a people person and maintain good relationships with everyone. Occasionally, I become loud due to my sheer enthusiasm. When I become interested in something, I become obsessed. I must watch every movie, read every book, every article, etc. For instance, I was deeply moved by the Parkland school shooting in 2018. I was glued to Fox News as a father, who lost his daughter in the shooting, made a speech at the White House. I even reached out to him three times to get involved, and he responded positively, leading to collaboration with his wife on research concerning state and federal law on school safety. I also managed their social media accounts. Once the investigation into the shooting concluded, it was clear to all involved that the Broward County School Board failed by not taking seriously the warnings they received about the shooter. That summer, I moved to Parkland, Florida, to work on a school board campaign for Richard Mendelson. I wrote my thesis on threatened masculinity because it helps explain why school shootings occur, closely examining Nikolas Cruz's behavior leading up to the Parkland shooting. I already hold a JD but find Law much more exciting when combined with journalism, which I hope to achieve by earning an MA in Journalism at _____ University, always in search of truth and persuasiveness. Public policy and its relation to political decision-making are central to my world. A highlight of my Law School days was participating in the “Kid’s Court,” educating children and youth about investigative and judicial processes, using a standardized, evidence-based curriculum to maintain the integrity of the legal process. We conducted ongoing research aimed at minimizing the potentially traumatic effects of the courtroom on children and creating a training program for best practices in educating children and youth about the judicial process. • MA English Language & Literature Personal Purpose Saudi

MA English Language Personal Purpose Statement Writing and Editing Service I was raised in a small village on one of the highest mountains in Saudi Arabia. Since the age of twelve, my main aspiration has been to master English as much as possible. I began my English journey with a small red book, which I still own today. By the end of high school, I felt quite dissatisfied with my progress in both speaking and writing English, and I was eager to pursue university studies in an English department. However, I couldn't do so because the nearest college offering an English program was too far from my home. My family refused to move there for my sake, as a girl's education is rarely prioritized in my society. They also didn't allow me to live there alone because I am a girl and needed to stay close to home. Consequently, I earned a diploma in Home Economics from a nearby college. Despite this, I continued my education and obtained another degree in Computer Science. I never let go of my initial dream of studying English at an advanced level, always believing it would eventually come true. Fortunately, one of my younger brothers enrolled in a university with an English department, and I convinced my family to let me attend as well, where I finally earned my BA in English Language. During this time, I met an inspiring teacher with a master's degree in translation, who motivated me to pursue further studies in this field and aim to become a professional translator. I grew up surrounded by strict traditions and closed-mindedness. However, I am achieving my freedom through my persistence with English. Thanks to my role as a teaching assistant in the English department at a girls' college affiliated with ____ University, I received a joint scholarship from the government and my university, covering all expenses for my master's degree in Canada. I wish to study English literature because I believe it will enhance my translation skills. Additionally, I am eager to take TESOL classes, merging my interests in language teaching and literature. I am particularly excited about learning how English literature can be utilized to teach the language. I have overcome numerous challenges to reach this point, guided by a strong belief that God has directed me from the start towards a purpose. I have become quite comfortable here in Canada, and my English skills have greatly improved; therefore, I am eager to begin your program. I aim to demonstrate to other Saudi girls that nothing is impossible when we have faith in the abilities God has given us. Ultimately, my long-term goal is to become the first woman to serve in the Ministry of Higher Education in my country. MA English Language & Literature Personal Purpose Saudi

  • Merit-Based Scholarship Personal Statement for Social Work BSW

Merit-Based Scholarship Personal Statement for Social Work BSW The prospect of attending the ____ School of Social Work is incredibly exciting for me, my family, and the professionals who have given support in all my educational and volunteer endeavors.  However, the realities of financial ability are all-too real for my family and me.  Upon being accepted to ____ University, I discussed financial aid with my parents, and we concluded that I would need significant aid due to my mother and father’s immediate obligations to my siblings who are also in the university.  When contacting ____ regarding financial aid, we were shocked to discover an oversight, namely, my not having checked a box on my application materials to be considered for merit-based scholarships.  One of the committee members then encouraged me to provide the following narrative for your consideration. From the time I was incredibly young, I have understood the importance of giving all to my education, and this is evident in my scholastic performance.  Growing up with a brother who suffered from ADHD, I was sympathetic to his struggles with education, and this laid a foundation for my passion for social work and helping others. The practical experiences that I have actively sought out have served to complement my developing understanding of social work theory.  For instance, I saw a need in my community, an elementary school struggling to build a relevant collection of books for its media center.  I turned this need into a creative endeavor, free carwashes for the public in exchange for a donation of books.  Building on the success of this effort, I turned to women and children in need, particularly those fleeing abusive homes, not unlike the flight of people in my own Jewish heritage, escaping deadly oppression.  To their memory, and the people in my community, I will not let my heritage, the sacrifices made, to have been in vain. To forget would be a greater tragedy.  Social work is more than a natural or logical progression for my education and career; it is everything I am and do. I have been involved as a research assistant for the Associate Chair of Pediatrics, Dr. Armstrong, at university of ____ School of Medicine, on a research project and pediatric neuropsychology clinic activities.  More importantly and further convincing me I am on exactly the right path; a social worker observed me working at the hospital where I was serving as a research assistant.  She remarked on how well I worked with an 8-year-old autistic boy receiving cancer treatment.  Upon hearing of my graduate education plans, she was thrilled, saying that I had that rare quality, the innate heart, soul and spirit, and kind nature to gently reach people who are isolated emotionally and comfort them.  My ability to reach out to people reflects my multicultural competency, as someone coming from a rich heritage with my father from Israel, my grandmother from Morocco, and a grandfather from Egypt.  Interning in London, Paris, Prague, and Barcelona, and sleeping over with a Bedouin family in the mountains of Israel have given me an increasing appreciation of who I am and where I have come from.  My ability to communicate effectively with people of myriad cultures and creeds will help me to excel in social work for a professional lifetime to come. Thank you for your time and consideration of my application for a merit-based scholarship. Merit-Based Scholarship Personal Statement for Social Work BSW

  • MS Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Personal Purpose

Physical Therapy Master’s Degree Program in Rehabilitation Statement of Purpose Example The Master’s Degree Program in Rehabilitation Therapy at XXXX University is my first choice for graduate school because I see your program as the finest of its kind in the world. Primarily interested in the study of social and economic justice when I began my undergraduate education, I chose Political Science as a major, initially with the intention of going on to law school and working in the field of civil rights. Over time, however, as my professional sense of identity developed further, my interest Political Science gradually began to take a back seat to my growing passion for the helping professions, especially Rehabilitation Therapy with a special concentration on vocational rehabilitation.     Two factors converged in support of my decision to pursue Vocational Rehabilitation Therapy. I began working for a certified rehabilitation counselor and vocational and economic, legal expert witness two years ago; and I have learned a lot on the job which has convinced me that rehabilitation therapy is noble work, and I feel fulfilled helping people to recover and rebuild their lives. This is also true of those individuals that have been released from jail and are given an opportunity to build new lives as productive and successful members of the community. My church is also heavily involved in activities geared towards the support and rehabilitation of ex-convicts, underscoring for me the moral imperative and spiritual quality that drives this work.      My 9 to 5 day job consists mostly of writing reports to determine the wage loss for claimants who have been injured in a workplace accident. This consists of reviewing claimants’ medical and employment information, determining their residual functional capacity and ability to work as specified in the medical records, and calculating any resultant wage or benefit losses. I have had the opportunity to meet many clients and observe my boss conducting vocational interviews. Meeting with clients one-on-one added another dimension of insight into the difficulties that disabled individuals deal with daily.  I am particularly interested in researching the relationship between disability, employment, and emotional and psychological well-being. One couple that I had the opportunity to meet, Mr. and Ms. R., were both injured in a motor vehicle accident. Mr. R was interviewed first, and then several weeks later we interviewed his wife.  Both sustained severe spinal injuries and were not able to return to work due to pain and limited mobility, the injuries affecting every aspect of their lives. Tears welled up in Ms. R.’s eyes when she discussed how hard it was for them to care for their one-year-old daughter.     Finally, my mom recently broke her right foot. She could not drive herself or walk without an assistive device for several months. Witnessing her difficulty bathing, climbing stairs, standing up, or getting in the car has also served to make me highly motivated. I look forward to a lifetime helping disabled or injured people to maximize their recovery.      Thank you for considering my application to Rehabilitation Therapy at George Washington.   MS Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Personal Purpose

  • MLIS Master’s Library & Information Sciences Purpose

MLIS Master’s Library & Information Sciences Personal Purpose Statement Examples, Editing Service Originally from Spain, I grew up speaking Catalan as my first language and Spanish as my second. Throughout my childhood, we lived in various parts of the country and also spent several years in France, close to the Swiss border near Geneva. My ultimate goal is to become a leading medical geneticist in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and make significant contributions to the development of medical laboratories there.   Initially, adapting to university life was challenging, and I took a gap year to address family and personal issues. Upon my return, I made significant progress, improved my grades, and secured a prestigious internship at King Fahd Medical City as a laboratory specialist, where I remain dedicated to various lab responsibilities. I was promoted to senior laboratory specialist in February 2018.   Last year was a pivotal moment in my life as I became a father to twin girls. This experience has strengthened my commitment to medicine, motivating me to advance my career and serve as a role model for my family, especially my children. I aim to pursue my master's degree in the USA, where medical laboratories are at the forefront, to learn from experts. This will prepare me for significant leadership roles in the KSA upon my return, enhancing my contribution to improving our medical infrastructure.   My family has consistently encouraged me to pursue a career in science and engage with the medical community innovatively, which has been my lifelong passion. I plan to dedicate many years to taking on increasing responsibilities and committing extensive efforts to science, education, and my community. As a highly efficient, productive, and detail-oriented medical technologist with advanced expertise in clinical, biochemical genetics, and clinical toxicology testing, I aim to bring excellent clinical laboratory skills to your program, enabling me to excel from the start, including conducting and analyzing laboratory assays and resolving complex clinical and instrument issues.   I am eager to succeed in your Master's Degree Program, leveraging the exceptional faculty at ____ Medical College to establish a strong foundation for future PhD studies. I am enthusiastic about a long and highly productive career focused on scientific research and independent study aimed at publication.   Volunteer work is also a passion of mine, and I look forward to making a mark in this area as my career progresses. I have participated with a local mobile blood bank and served as an organizer for World Lab Day. I aspire to teach Clinical Research in Saudi Arabia eventually. As this field is still emerging in my country, I am excited about the opportunity to prepare new generations of students for careers in scientific research, both internationally and domestically, strengthening our local scientific community, particularly in medical fields. This is my top priority, alongside being an exceptional father to my twins.   Thank you for considering my application. MS Clinical Laboratory Sciences Personal Purpose Statement
