I am a 34-year-old Muslim Arab woman from Kuwait, passionate about education and progress through educational technology. I aspire to earn a PhD in the West to contribute significantly to curriculum development and educational administration in Kuwait.
I was born into a Kuwaiti family that values education highly. My elder sister, a math teacher, inspired me to pursue teaching. I aim to excel in educational administration and improve Kuwaiti educational standards to be internationally competitive, as we lag behind some Arab neighbors.
My greatest contribution to society could be transforming schools into creativity centers. I aim to achieve this by excelling as a researcher and publishing findings on educational leadership, focusing on forming future leaders to address challenges in Kuwait's educational systems.
I hold a master's degree in educational administration from Kuwait University (2007) and am passionate about researching total quality assurance in education. With 12 years of teaching experience, including four years as a Senior Teacher, I have also volunteered in EFL classes, enhancing my appreciation for multiculturalism in education. My published research, "Futuristic Vision for Privatizing Secondary Education in Kuwait," appeared in the Journal of Social Science (2008).
Attending a 2005 conference in Bahrain was pivotal, exposing me to e-learning's significance and global educational challenges. This experience fueled my ambition to join a multicultural graduate program, enhancing my understanding of ESL/EFL issues in various contexts, which will aid in addressing EFL challenges in Kuwait.
I have been actively involved in the e-learning community at Kuwait University since my time as a graduate student, continuing to collaborate on projects. My visits to other Gulf countries have given me a basic understanding of their educational systems. Most of my valuable learning has come from classroom experience, particularly during my volunteer work from 1999-2008 as an EFL teacher for grades 10-12. I am dedicated to helping students and maintaining good relationships despite their challenges with English.
I have also pursued courses to enhance my creativity in EFL instruction, focusing on CALL techniques and resources. In 2009, I took courses on “Teaching Speaking” and educational games, and in 2010, I studied technology in education, all sponsored by Kuwait’s Ministry of Education.
My greatest joy is discovering information and applying it. I am deeply engaged with user-generated content online and aim to fully utilize this resource in our educational systems. I anticipate new eras of development where interactive, real-time educational instruction, inspired by the gaming industry, becomes prevalent.
Kuwait has resources to invest in its future, and acceptance into your program will provide the professional foundation I need to contribute creatively to the education of future generations. Thank you sincerely for considering my application.
