I am a cosmopolitan young man from India who is most passionate about the science of computer engineering. My global outlook and appreciation for diversity are exemplified by the fact that I am fluent in French, although English is my best language, followed by Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. My first professional language, however, will always be the computer. Now, at 28, I am most grateful that I have been fully immersed in everything having to do with the computer for almost two decades. I am confident that I will be able to excel in your program at __U not only for my extremely elevated level of motivation and the fact that I am an extremely hard worker, but also my extensive experience with IBM.
I have been with IBM for over 7 years, mostly in product development (IBM's WebSphere suite of products); I use my in-depth knowledge of the product to help customers build custom solutions. Most recently, I have become fully immersed in real implementations (versus POCs or POTs). I resolve problems that the customers have, which often entails elaborate, even ingenious scripting. I know only just enough, however, to be able to fully appreciate how much I still need to learn. I see becoming involved in research taking place at __U to be the optimal environment for me to make as much progress as possible in my field.

I moved to the US 2 years ago to represent IBM at ____ Insurance. Since that time, I have worked extremely hard to give my all to my company. I have managed to use my technical product knowledge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_WebSphere) to suggest improvements and remove blocks. Close customer interaction has given me vast insight into numerous problems and issues that are of critical importance, especially to our biggest customers. For this reason, I am at an optimal point to further my education in my field and I am confident that I will be able to excel in your MS program at XXXX State.
As a Type 1 Diabetic for the last 15 years, I have had special struggles. Moving to America required a great deal of adjustment. Now, however, because of a lot of hard work and determination, I am well poised to fulfill my lifelong dream of studying in one of the largest and strongest programs in the world. I hope to inspire others in the future, and I also hope to share in the alleviation of human suffering through the advancement of technology.

I was extremely fortunate to have been born into a family of professionals. My mother is a doctor, and my father is an engineer. Computers came into my life at an incredibly early age. I remember working on an old Intel 8086 (16-bit) based PC my father brought home when I was still in Middle School. I was especially excited about learning Visual Basic. I began writing games in VB and my passion took over like a wildfire. Ranking #57 on the entrance examinations, I began my formal training in Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology in Calicut, India, and was recruited straight out of college by IBM.
I intend to settle in the US, but I shall always remain connected to India, and I intend to spend as much time there as possible over the long term, as much as my professional obligations permit. This is because it is my hope to contribute the expertise that I will gain at ___U to the long-term technological development of India. I want to give back as much as I can to my community, which is why I am an active volunteer with both the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Foundation. At some point in my career, I want to teach to empower, to pass on the torch, the hope that exists in the promise of Computer Engineering. I want to thank you for considering my application to your distinguished program.
