One of the most significant privileges I've had in life is volunteering with the American Red Cross as part of a Disaster Action Team. This experience has greatly deepened my understanding of organizational dynamics, especially under pressure, and inspired me to pursue a career in Human Resources, supported by the training I hope to receive in your program.
My journey in Human Resources started before I moved to the United States from Abidjan, Ivory Coast. I worked for XXXX, a water distribution company, from November 2003 to February 2004. In this role, I created and implemented a database system to track 1,537 employees, enabling us to monitor performance, progress, and transfers within the company. I also managed employee time and attendance records to ensure accurate tracking of vacation time and promotions.
Alongside my professional experience in the Ivory Coast, I earned a master's degree in criminology and a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of Abidjan. After relocating to the US, I continued preparing for a master's program by taking graduate-level Business Management courses at the University of XXXX, concentrating on Human Resource Management practices and information research skills. At XXXX University in Washington DC, I studied Managerial Information Systems, Quantitative Factors in Management, and Organizational Theory in Human Resource Management. For the past four years, I have worked as an Assistant Animal Laboratory Technician at the XXXX Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. While I find my work rewarding, I am eager to take on greater professional challenges. The Metropolitan School of Professional Studies at CUA is my top choice for graduate study due to its location, flexibility, and application-oriented approach, culminating in the Master’s Capstone course and the opportunity to complete an applied project.
Throughout my life, I have aimed to develop a multicultural and multilingual identity, reaching an intermediate level in Spanish—reading, writing, and speaking. As a team player and a quick, lifelong learner, I aspire to contribute to human resource organization in developing countries. I have extensive experience in public relations and am a highly self-motivated problem solver.
Having long honed a talent for enhancing organizational efficiency and meeting operational deadlines, I am well-versed in my field. My appreciation for diversity has been strengthened by my travels, spending months in various African countries—both English and French-speaking—enhancing my ability to adapt to different business environments and learning to respect diverse belief systems and cultural values.
