Iran, my homeland, is a nation abundant in linguistic diversity, with a variety of dialects from different origins. Growing up in this culturally rich environment, traveling, studying, and teaching, I have been fortunate to become fluent in Persian and English. I hold a profound passion for languages and communication in all its diverse and wonderful forms globally.
My academic path is closely intertwined with my professional life. I began my undergraduate studies in English in 1987, with the goal of becoming an effective English teacher for secondary school students. During this period, I developed successful methods for conveying concepts, clearly explaining English fundamentals through increasingly creative techniques, and providing additional tutoring or instruction as needed to ensure no student was left behind.
As time passed, I sought to deepen my understanding and research the various language-related challenges I encountered in my teaching career. Having taught in diverse settings and at different levels, I have refined my ability to adapt quickly and think on my feet, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by English learners.
For the past eighteen years, I have devoted myself to the study and teaching of English. My professional experience has exposed me to specialized teaching approaches and effective English translation, coaching students in university entrance exam strategies, and designing final exam questions for my municipality in 1993 and 1994. In my teaching, I utilize language labs, stories, student presentations, and in-class debates. Although demanding in terms of time and energy, the rewards have been both personally and professionally fulfilling.
I enjoy reflecting on the changes and impact I have had on my students’ futures. While accolades and awards are gratifying, my ultimate goal is to empower my students to create positive changes in their lives. As I prepare for the graduate SLT program, I am working towards obtaining my IELTS certificate in a few months. A Master's in TESOL will help me achieve my objectives of enhancing course structures and syllabi in Iranian universities or schools. I intend to research methods to improve students' ability to communicate effectively and authentically, goals that the Faculty of Education can fulfill. No other institution can offer a more comprehensive and current regimen of linguistic theories or an in-depth analysis of language components.
My aim is to eventually become a professor at an Iranian university, researching various aspects of English teaching and learning. In the future, I plan to study psychology to integrate strategies from this field into the classroom. In my immediate teaching career, I aim to contribute by bringing world-class education to my homeland and developing textbooks.
The University of XXXX is my sole choice for academic advancement. I am confident that my unique international education and extensive experiences—my cultural competency—will significantly aid me in my research opportunities and make me a distinctive addition to the student body of Canada’s finest university. Thank you for your time and consideration.
